(CBS News) Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will attend a fundraiser at the home of former Vice President Dick Cheney this summer, his campaign has confirmed to CBS News. The event will be hosted by the former vice president and his wife, Lynne, and will take place at their Jackson Hole, Wyoming, home on July 12th.
According to a save-the-date email for the fundraiser obtained by the Wall Street Journal, those paying the most to attend will have the option of dining with Governor Romney and the former Vice President.
"Jackson Hole is a beautiful summer destination and this will be a memorable event," a member of the Romney finance team wrote in the e-mail obtained by the Wall Street Journal. "We hope that you and your friends will be able to join us."
The former vice president endorsed Romney in April at Wyoming's state Republican convention, only weeks after undergoing heart-transplant surgery.
Although Cheney remains a divisive figure in the Republican party - known for his unapologetic support for harsh interrogation techniques, including waterboarding, as well as his push to expand America's military abroad - Romney has spoken highly of him.
During a campaign event in September, Romney referred to Cheney while describing the type of person he'd look for when choosing a vice presidential candidate.
"Whether you agree or disagree with him, this is a man of wisdom and judgment, and he could have been president of the United States," Romney said of Cheney at the campaign event in Arizona. "That's the kind of person I'd like to have -- a person of wisdom and judgment."
As the Romney campaign gears up for the general election battle this fall, the former Massachusetts governor is spending much of his time fundraising. He is currently in the middle of a three-day fundraising swing through Connecticut and New York City that will raise more than $10 million, according to his national finance chair, Spencer Zwick.
