Ron Paul wins majority of delegates in Minnesota

(CBS News) Rep. Ron Paul won a majority of delegates in Minnesota's state convention on Saturday where his supporters captured 12 of the 13 delegate slots.

The strong state convention turnout means that the Republican presidential candidate will receive 32 of the 40 Minnesota delegates for the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Paul placed second in Minnesota's February 7 caucuses, with 27 percent support behind Rick Santorum, who won 45 percent.

The Texas congressman announced last week that he would stop actively campaigning in states yet to vote, and rather work to organize to win delegates for the convention - a strategy that proved successful in Minnesota this weekend as well as in Nevada and Maine, where he also won a majority of delegates earlier this month.

Ron Paul plays long game.

As a former Minnesotan I have to grin and appreciate the average Minnesotan's desire to be different and noticed in some way. And when it comes to elections Minnesotan's do know how to vote off the grid! As they once again have proved here!

I find it amusing that all the Ron Paul supporters have intelligent, supported, respectful things to say and the anti-Paul's just keep calling names and throwing out completely unfounded statements. We're all probably paying for Smokey to sit around on disability so he can post online all day. While Ron Paul supporters are actually out DOING something. I'm hosting yet another local conservative/liberty meeting at my house this weekend discussing how to get involved in local/county/state politics... what are YOU doing to improve the party?

RON PAUL IS A CRAZY OLD GEEZER!
And you are a Communist Punk that thinks it is ok to steal from thy brother to pay for thy own.

He wants to abolish social security, LIER!
PAUL WANTS SOCIAL SECURITITY PUT BACK INSIDE OF A TRUST FUND WHERE GREEDY COMMUNISTS LIKE ROMNEY AND OBAMA CAN'T GET THEIR HANDS ON IT. ADDITIONALLY, PAUL WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THOSE THT HAVE NO TYET ENTERED THE WORK FORCE AN OPT OUT OF SOCIAL SECURITITY SO THEY CAN INVEST THEIR MONEY IN MUCH BETTER THINGS.

Abolish Medicare LIER!
MEDICARE IS A STATE ISSUE NOT A FEDERAL ISSUE.
PAUL DOES NOT THINK IT WISE FOR THE FEDERAL GOV TO BE GRANTED A MEDICAL INDUSTRY MONOPOLY. WE DO WANT CHOICES! IF THE FED IS INVLOVED WE WILL HAVE NO CHOICES TO MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE WHERE THEIR MEDICARE PROGRAM MIGHT BE BETTER THEN THE STATE ON ELIVES IN.
TATES TO RETAN POWER

Abolish the EPA CORRECT!
YES PAUL DOES WANT TO END THE COURPTION HERE ALSO.
HE WANTS TO RESTRUCTURE THE EXISTING EPS TO KEEP COPORATE INFLUENCES FROM SWAYING THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITITY.

and gut our military LIER LIER LIER LIER
IT IS TRUE THAT PAUL AND MYSELF WANT TO DOWNSIZE CONSIDERABLY ABROAD. HOWEVER, PAUL WANTS TO RE-OPEN THE CLOSED MILITARY BASES IN THE HOMELAND. MAKE US STRONGER AT HOME. ALL OF OUR MEN ARE FIGHTING ILLEGAL WARS NOT APPROVED BY CONGRESS. THIS LEAVE OUR COUNTRY VERY WEAK AT HOME. PAUL IS TRYING TO FIX THAT AND MAKE US STRONGER HERE AT HOME.

There is no way he would win a general election and in the general election there is no way for loony supporters to hijack the electoral college.
CONSIDERING PAUL HAS SAVED THE ELECTROIAL COLLEGE FROM CERTAIN DOOM AND CLOSURE. I THINK PAUL ALREADY HAS THAT IN HIS BAG.

So just why did we waste the state's time and money with primaries and caucuses if the delegates are being decided behind closed doors?

Its not Ron Paul who is not playing by the rules? The Gop and the media is cheating Ron Paul. Ron Paul supporters are doing everything they can to get the GOP to play by there on rules. How can you say Jim that this is not fair. Santorum droped out why do you think Romney should get his delegates. Shouldn't those delegates who worked hard to go to Minn state convention be able to vote for who ever they want? They picked Ron Paul. If you do not like the rules you should work to change the rules like the Ron Paul supporters are doing.

I don't believe Santorum released his delagates. And all I am asking is why have primaries or caucuses if the delegates are chosen behind closed doors.

You may be right, the GOP/RNC may turn their backs on the Ron Paul/Liberty demographic just like they did in 2008. And it will be the end of the Republican party. They'll be handing over the election to Obama and forever fracturing the Republican party. It will take a decade for conservatives to recover from the setback. You can't simply tell over 20% of your conservative base to take a flying leap and not expect massive repercussions. Don't kid yourself, the fate of the Republican party hangs in the balance.

The GOP old guard is just as corrupt as the Obama administration. It is sick, it is dying, and they control their own fate right now. We're not the fringe, we're not crazies, we are a large and growing group of Liberty-minded people thinking for ourselves, doing our own research, and not simply accepting what the media spins. And the more you call names the more you sound just like the liberals... demeaning and dismissing those who disagree with your narrow-minded view of conservatism. Wake up and help us save this party before its too late. Because if you don't, the party is dead.

A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, they are two sides of the same coin. Paul with Romney as VP might work. That would also give Ron four years to show Mitt how to be human. The ideal ticket would be Paul/Napolitano.
