George W. Bush voices support for Romney

(CBS News) Former President George W. Bush voiced his support for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign for the first time today, ABC News reports.

In a decidedly underwhelming fashion, the former president said to a reporter, "I'm for Mitt Romney," as the doors of an elevator closed on him. Mr. Bush was in Washington to deliver a speech on freedom and democracy at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

The presumptive Republican nominee has already been endorsed by Mr. Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush. The former president officially announced his endorsement in his Houston office with Romney at his side. Mr. George W. Bush's brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, also officially endorsed Romney in a statement.

Andrea Saul, a spokesman for the Romney campaign, said of the latest unofficial endorsement, "We welcome the president's support, as we welcomed his father's."

She added that Romney does not have any scheduled appearances with Mr. Bush, noting that the former president made clear when he left office that he was not going to engage in political campaigns.

Democrats used the news today to criticize Romney and link him to the former president. "George W. Bush endorses Mitt Romney--and why wouldn't he? Romney has endorsed Bush's policies and made them his own," the Democratic National Committee tweeted.

At the event on freedom and democracy today, Mr. Bush joked, "I actually found my freedom by leaving Washington. But it's good on occasion to be back and see old friends."

Bush was toxic, and extremely unpopular. Why would he deprecate Romney by supporting him? Maybe he is really supporting Obama by "endorsing" Romney.

Keep in mind we have a pretty liberal media who is in Obama back pocket. So he has very good chance of pulling a Truman. But is fun seeing the liberals squirm knowing how much they hate Romney. Also knowing if the election was held today there is about 85-90% chance Obama would lose.

But I digress the election will not be held today and there is 6 months for the media to pump Obama up and tear Romney down. So there is a chance Obama will win, which will end up being a loss for America.

LOL!

You have a point....... Obama bit the lib media hand that feeds him yesterday because of a few random acts of Journalism that came out of CBS and NBC. Those guys are probably floating face down in the patomic by now.

His biggest mystake is he didnt "wise up" after the 2010 midterms like Clinton did in 1994.

It is amusing we get told how great Obama is and how bad Romney is from the left loons yet Obama can't get above 47% and is statistically tied with Romney in all Polls.

LOL!

I know. Truman was the only President in Amercian history that pulled it off and only because the GOP controlled the media back then.

Obama is worse than carter and definately not better than Truman.

Smokey? More like Smoking, as in your high, brother. You think Obama would lose 85-90% today? That's hilarious. You are going to have a bummer day in November.
