Bachmann to endorse Romney

(CBS News) Former GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., plans to endorse the party's presumptive nominee Mitt Romney at a campaign event in Portsmouth, Va., on Thursday, Romney campaign officials say.

As competitors on the stump, Bachmann often contrasted herself to Romney by saying that she was the only true conservative in the race, as well as the candidate favored by the tea party. The endorsement from the House member from Minnesota could help him attract the staunch conservatives who shunned him during the primaries, preferring Bachmann and other more ideological candidates.

But Bachmann also has a record of sharply criticizing Romney for supporting a health care plan as the governor of Massachusetts much like the one later embraced by President Obama. In December Bachmann said, "We also know that Mitt Romney is the only governor in the history of the United States to put into place socialized medicine. Mitt Romney will never get rid of the health care mandate under Obamacare."

As a candidate for the 2012 Republican nomination, Bachmann became the first woman to win the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa. She devoted almost her entire campaign to winning the state's caucus in January, but she finished in sixth place and dropped out shortly afterward.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is also expected to attend the event with Romney.

I am a 62 year old woman. Last Saturday I voted in a Massachusetts' Republican caucus for the first time in my life.

I found the Ron Paul supporters to be mature, well-spoken, responsible. I could tell it was difficult for some of the members of the Paul's Liberty slate to get up and speak in front of the large crowd for three minutes because they were nervous. They had worked hard on their speeches, and these same Americans,
when they spoke, were very sincere and thoughtful. They came from all walks of life. There was a woman accountant, an engineer, a college student, among others.

Romney's slate was composed of well-known politician friends of his giving the standard slick and empty speeches who spoke too long, 7 minutes for one. (3 minutes were allotted for each candidate).

The Liberty Slate won 5 of 6 delegates in the 6th District of Romney's home state of Massachusetts.

Members of the old Republican party need to make room for new life and ideas in their party. I saw a level of maturity, intelligence, and commitment to make good things happen for this country at the caucus and was impressed by Ron Paul's Liberty supporters. They are the real Patriots, average Americans - just like of old. I am very proud of them.

This is the way to heal our great country.

There is talk going around Mn that Romney is going to ask Bachmann to run with him as vice president. If that happens Romney is done. She puts her foot in her mouth too much.

Neither Bachmann nor Gingrich nor Cain had any support to speak of which is why they are all out of the race.

People with virtually no support making endorsements looks downright silly.

First I would like to say that only the news media gives a rats rear end what Bachman thinks or says. The rest of humanity knows that she needs assistance tying her s.hoes and feeding herself. You could fit her brain power on the tip of a needle and still have room. In other words CBS, who the f....k cares about this ****? Can you spare us the headache of seeing her ugly face in the news? If I had my way this piece of crap would be forever banned from opening her pathetic mouth again....period.
