Boehner: 1 in 3 chance Democrats retake House

Updated: 9:10 p.m. ET

John Boehner is suggesting that Democrats have a one in three chance of taking back the House of Representatives in 2012.

"I would say that there is a two in three chance that we win control of the House again. But there's a one in three chance that we could lose. And I'm being myself, frank, we've got a big challenge and we've got work to do," Boehner told Fox News' Bill Hemmer in an interview that will air on Tuesday.

Republicans took over the House of Representatives in the 2010 elections. Democrats need a net gain of 25 seats to retake the majority.

"We have 50 of our members in tough races; 89 freshmen running for their first re-elections," said Boehner. "And we have 32 districts that are in states where there is no presidential campaign going to be run, no big Senate race and we call these orphan districts."

He added: "You take 18 of them -- California, Illinois and New York, where you know we're not likely to do well at the top of the ticket -- and those districts are frankly pretty vulnerable."

Boehner's comments may be designed in part to spur Republican donors to give money to the National Republican Congressional Committee and similar organizations that work to get Republicans elected to the House.

occupy_cbs: Stooping so low as to calling others "Nazi's," shows exactly how far the republican party full of fox/rush parrots, has actually fallen!

Little boys that have nothing more than juvenile games to play -- completely unable to address the problem of calling another poster a "Nazi" -- and can only use the same attack as usual.

I pointed out YOUR copy&paste of the ROE hypocrisy, since calling another poster an outright "Nazi" is a blatant rule violation, and all YOU can do is make an outright blanket attack on the Democrats!

YOU have nothing else DJ -- all you do is whine and cry about lies and 'think' YOU know the truth, but YOU add nothing to the discussion!

Run along to your own little world, and leave the adults alone!

As always, since DJ brings absolutely nothing to this forum but a juvenile whining and constant attacks.

He cannot even understand that boner wants to be a bookmaker now!

Thanks for showing us the constant republican message of FEARmongering, since that's all your republican party of utter hatred and division has had for America over the past 30 years. Every single moderate, Rockefeller republican has been purged and replaced with a far-right teabagging extremist, bent on taking us backwards!

The problem is.....republicans couldn't care less about America -- just the top 1% that they worship and keep trying to transfer the entire wealth of America to -- in order to make the other 99% their slaves of the oligarchic plutocracy!

Seriously, republican sycophants making endless personal attacks on others while sitting back to collect their government checks and use government health care, continuously show their utter hypocrisy!

Again, there's at least a 99% chance that boner will certainly be weeping when he loses his speakership for worshiping the top 1% of Americans, like all republican politicians that hate the 99%.

While I know that reading comprehension is not your strong suit, my comment only states that boner and the republicans absolutely hate the 99% of Americans while worshiping the top 1% -- not that all of the 99% belong to any particular party, just that many of the 99% continue to vote against their best economic interests like you!

It is an absolute FACT that the vast majority of Americans indeed see the need to raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires like romney, even though about 28% call themselves republicans.

Your ankle-biting grows tiresome, but this is exactly what President Obama has to deal with as he tries to improve the American way of life with republicans holding onto his ankles, trying to take him backwards to the 1950s. The obstructionist republicans are anti-American terrorists, following grover nitwitt and ALEC over the cliff!

How can any American vote for the liar Obama? He's lied to the Catholic Bishops, he's lied to the American public time and time again, he's full of lied He told the conrad president of Russia that "I'll have more flexibility after the election", believing he will win, arrogant and egoistical. Why does he not tell the American people what he meant by that statement re the defense of Western Europe? We would like to know why he is so cosy with the Russians.

But see Occupy, 99% of the American people do not think that the Republicans are against them. Only the Democrats think that. So why do you still assume that 99% of Americans agree with you
***************************************

So DJ, you are saying you never said this? Not even in your response to Occupy's post??? Well then somebody is posting things for you little boy.

Nope JL, neither Dem or Repub. As far as being "liberal", I side with conservatives on illegal immigration and liberals on most economic issues like raising taxes on millionaires. Don't care for Obama's health care proposal forcing us to buy insurance from the PRIVATE SECTOR. Hate Wall Street and Greedy people. Still, all in all, I do feel Obama is the "lesser of all evils" in this if you consider the greedy, stupid, clowns the crazy GOP has offered. People please, don't they have anybody DECENT to run?? Religeous nuts who want to rule the world and force their beliefs upon everyone? Greedy people who only want to protect their wealthy constituants and send the middle class to heck? Get real!!! All they care about is partisan politics. They want a country not "of the people, by the people or for the people", they want a country "of the GOP, by the GOP and for the GOP and their special interests. They didn't used to be that way but they are now.

I am old enough to remember back in the day when the Republican political party was not the radical elitist fanatical group that it has become today. It was a much more respectful time when a political "party" affiliation was not as important as the good of the country. That being the good of EVERYBODY. Now it's all about political party power and special interests. Well, the party of "NO" has got to "GO"!!!!!! I really don't understand what happened to them other than GREED and a hunger for POWER, pure and simple.
