New ad assails Scott Walker's jobs record

(CBS News) -- Six weeks before Wisconsin's recall general election, the Democratic Governors Association is helping to finance an aggressive ad campaign against Republican Gov. Scott Walker, slamming him for thousands of jobs lost since he took office.

"Most states gained jobs last year, but under Governor Walker, Wisconsin lost more jobs than any other state," a narrator asserts, as a graphic appears that cites a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics number that the state lost 12,500 jobs in 2011.

The ad, scheduled to begin airing statewide on Monday, was financed in part by the DGA's $500,000 contribution to the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund.

Michelle McGrorty, executive director of the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund said in a press release, "Since the country as a whole, and our Midwestern neighbors are gaining jobs, it's pretty clear the problem is Scott Walker."

In addition to facing criticism for his record on the economy, Walker has been in the line of fire from critics who oppose his efforts to strip away benefits from public sector unions. Walker is only the third sitting governor to face a recall election. Wisconsin officials granted the recall after more than one million signatures were submitted in January, far exceeding the requisite 540,208 minimum.

Walker said in an interview with Newsmax.TV that he believes President Obama's supporters are organizing to help defeating him in the June 5 recall election.

"I think you'll see the most radical elements on the left are going to be involved in this recall, because again for them, this is so critically important," Walker said.

Walker added, "I think they understand that when we win, this will send a powerful message not just to other Republican governors, but to even some of the discerning Democrats who hold governorships and even mayoral positions across the country."

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Kathleen Falk, a former county executive in Dane County, Wisc., are vying for the Democratic nomination in the state's May 8 primary. The winner will face Walker in the recall four weeks later.

Wisconsin's unemployment is 6.8%. Illinois is 8.9%. Wisconsin added 17,500 jobs so far this year but there are many companies that are holding back in fear of the possible outcome of the June recall, where the democratic candidates have said they will increase the corporate tax rate, eliminate incentives and certain loop holes...all of which KILL jobs.
In Walker's 14 months, we just reached the $1 billion dollars saved from his reforms. His polices have saved school districts millions of dollars ( Fond Du Lac alone saved over $4million). WEA Trust was exposed for its millions overcharging for insurance.
Wisconsin moved to credit positive while Illinois is worst in the nation...even behind California!
The democrats can cry all they want about Walker's jobs, which would have been far worse had a democrat been elected, but the result is that we are FAR better off, companies are 96% positive about our direction and jobs will be returning.

I'll mention again...we're at 6.8% unemployment..17th best in the country and it was 7.3% when Walker entered office.

Illinois ranked third while Wisconsin placed 42nd in the most recent Bloomberg Economic Evaluation of States index, which includes personal income, tax revenue and employment. Illinois gained 32,000 jobs in the 12 months ending in February, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found. Wisconsin, where Walker promised to create 250,000 jobs with the help of business-tax breaks, lost 16,900.

This will be a major setback if Big Labor fails here to get Governor Scott Walker! They will have blown $50-Million of their members union dues trying too! I personally do not like this buffoon myself just a puppet for the Koch Brothers! But if I were betting I would have to slap a Big Benny Franklin on Scott Walker surviving this here recall. If he does and Romney takes the White House come this November Union's will be finished that most definitely will be the final nail in their coffin NO doubt!!!

What I find funny in the Wisconsin race is the dems running against Walker all are upset with him as he eliminated a projected deficit of over 3 billion dollars that the state was looking at for the next two years, yet when each dem challenger is asked, they have no idea of how to come up with the 3 billion dollars(oh the hyprocrisy). I am sure their solution as it always is would be to increase taxes, oh and triple tax the rich and the poor business folks.

Bishop -----Maybe you should pull up the Milwaukee Journal, there are numerious articles that explain during the election for governor the state had a deficit of 3 billion dollars. Because of cuts in the budget and saving of over 1 billion dollars from union folks now having to pay for part of their pension and health insurance over 1 billion was saved. Too bad you do not do your homework. By the way in case you didn't know it Wisconsin runs a 2 year budget.

Like anything else it's important to look at both sides of the coin. It's important to consider that job growth in the state is improving and unemployment is at its lowest rate since 2008 (http://1.usa.gov/IEIWHN). When you see stories about stalled job growth, or job loss it's important to look at the root causes, like partisan politics killing bills that would bring hundreds of jobs to the state (http://******/x26jcm), or public sector unions urging their members to incur job loss so that Walker might look worse (http://******/yPR9db).

Has anyone every seen the documentary called "House of Cards"? All I hear about lately is that the unions are the cause of the economic state of our country. The documentary, House of Cards, tells another story. It was shown on CNN, Fox, or someother news channel about a year ago. It talks about the banking debacle and how it caused our country to spiral into a huge economic recession. When the houseing industry crashed it took many people down with it. How did all this turn into a fight against unions? Why did Governor Walker continue to strip the rights of the middle class workers when they agreed to all his demands? Make no mistake, union workers are not in the top 1%. They are not the rich, they are the middle class. They continue to lose jobs just like everyone else. They continue to make concessions like everyone else. For some reason, they have become a huge target to the Republicans. Unions are perfect but they have an important role which is to fight for the rights of the middle class. When does all this fighting end and when do politicians do what it right? There is something called integrity. Unfortunately, I don't see much of it in our politicians lately.

You're right, seems when the unions take consessions, it's never reported. Hardly anything about no raises for four years in the contracts with Ford, GM and Chrysler, profit sharing only, no increase in benefits.

Odd argument to go from a housing debacle that liberal America stuck on us to the unions representing the middle class and finishing with the word "integrity".

I am not sure your argument has integrity.

Let me see, Little Scotty said: "Walker said in an interview with Newsmax.TV that he believes President Obama's supporters are organizing to help defeating him in the June 5 recall election." And yet his party said: "We are encouraging Republicans to vote in the Democratic primaries," said state Rep. Robin Vos, the Republican expected to serve as speaker of the Assembly next year. Vos said people frequently bring up the tactic to him and he doesn't discourage them from doing it"
Now, go to your room and cry little Scotty

It isn't so much what Walker has done as how he has gone about doing it. Stating in the press he doens't care what people think he is passing the bills he wants passed because he has the majority. Not giving enough notice time wise for all the representives to come in to vote for or against a bill. Only letting the Republicians have proper notice and giving a very short window of time to the democrates. This is why some of the bills or changes in voting that the Wis. Republicians have pased have been overturned in courts. I am getting tired of out of stater mouthing off on this when you do not live in the state and are not getting all the facts.
