Democrat Elizabeth Warren's Senate campaign raised $6.9 million between January and March, the campaign announced this morning, more than doubling the haul of her Republican rival Scott Brown, who unveiled first quarter earnings of $3.4 million last week,.

In a statement, the campaign said 83 percent of the contributions were for amounts of $50 or less, and counted more 30,000 donors from within the state.

"The incredible enthusiasm we have seen from people across the Commonwealth who are contributing to this campaign shows the strong grassroots momentum behind Elizabeth's fight for middle class families," said campaign manager Mindy Myers in a statement. "Scott Brown still has $4 million more in the bank than we do, but this is the kind of support we need to be able to take on the big banks and corporations that are lining up against Elizabeth."

Brown, whose re-election bid against Warren is expected to be one of the most costly Senate campaigns in the nation, immediately hit back against the Warren campaign, blasting the candidate in a press release for being an "extreme liberal when it comes to raising taxes."

"She believes government knows better than you how to spend your money when the truth is that Washington wastes the money we send them now," said Jim Barnett, Brown's campaign manager, in a statement.

In an apparent effort to keep up with Warren's fundraising efforts, the Brown campaign on Friday unveiled new fundraising initiative: A contest to "Win a Day with Scott Brown."

The winner of the contest will get the chance to "spend a day on the campaign trail with Senator Scott Brown."

Awesome, I was very happy to contribute $50 to the campaign to unseat another Republicon Senator who is pretending to represent anyone but Wall Street and his Top 1% corporate masters. We need to end this corruption as soon as possible and elect all of Congress with people like Ms. Warren. Hooray, hooray!
