Hotsheet Live: What's the Supreme Court's next move in the health care case?

CBS News correspondent Whit Johnson was joined on Hotsheet Live Friday by CBS News political correspondent Jan Crawford, National Journal's Major Garrett and Politico's Jonathan Allen to discuss this week's historic Supreme Court oral arguments on the constitutionality of President Obama's signature health care law.

"This is not an easy case," Crawford said. "You had very aggressive arguments by the conservative justices suggesting that is law is an unprecedented sweep of federal power over American life."

Once the Supreme Court makes its ruling, Allen said Congress faces a steep climb if it is ordered to make changes to the law.

"The idea that Congress is going to come back and pick up the pieces of this bill is a strange notion and one that seems to come from this ivory tower that's detached from reality," Allen said.

Garrett said the court's ruling has the potential to "be like an energy drink for both sides."

Watch the entire discussion - including the panel's take on Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio's chances of landing on the GOP ticket - in the video above.

The way it seems out there , OUR STATES are not very good at doing thier jobs of taking care of what needs to be done to effectively for health care or say they fall short because of the red tape in Washington but when Washington comes up with a plan regardless of which side it comes form, left, right or middle to address health care and act on it some, with wealth or religious domination demand that "our politicians, the ones payed by WHOEVER" scream foul. Our 2 party system DOESN'T work and THESE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES SHOULD NOT BE LEANING IN ANY PARTIES FAVOR AND THE OUTCOME WILL SHOW IF THESE justices are thinking in the best interest of the WELL BEING of AMERICA'S HEALTH OVER 'ALL "

The Republicans have been trying to convert Medicare into a voucher system that would require recipients to buy insurance from a private company. If they are able to get that through before the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare and the Court shoots down the individual mandate that would also shoot down Medicare.

Looks like the Republicans have been attempting a backdoor elimination of Medicare via the Ryan budget. Don't think that budget will survive anyway but there is always the possibility.

All those seniors who are supporting the Ryan budget must be doing so because they want to give up their Medicare. They are not required to use Medicare. I suggest to the Tea Party seniors that they just pay for all their medical treatment out of their own pockets and stop trying to punish the rest of us.

Where do you get seniors won't be affected? I asked you the same question the other night. If as the republicans say Medicare will be broke in 7 years which would be 2019 and ryans plan doesn't go into effect until 2023, what happens when the seniors have no coverage for those four years? Also there are no insurance companies that will insure seniors at 65 and over, except the plan the politicians have. I have a very good friend who is an insurance broker, that say's she can't write a policy for anyone 64 and a half or older with any health insurance company. The only thing she can write for them are Medicare supplements.
