Obama to heckler: "Show me some courtesy"

President Obama chided a heckler at rally on Thursday at Ohio State University, telling the man, " sir, I'm hear to speak to these folks, you can hold your own rally, you're being rude."

The crowd erupted in cheers supporting the president but the man kept shouting. He wanted to give Mr. Obama a book.

With a grin on his face, Mr. Obama said he would be happy to read the book and added, "show me some courtesy."

The president motioned to Secret Service to get the book from the man.

According to CBS News White House producer Jeff Goldman, the man was not escorted out but did quiet down.

Hmm, I googled like crazy and didn't find any such instances of "liberals" heckling Bush in this way (protesting outside a venue with signs doesn't count.) Can someone support that, or is it another ***-for-tat fabrication designed to OK this rude behavior?

Ok, mctrog... you're going to have to be more specific than that.

Actually it's rude and obnoxious whenever ANYBODY exhibits childish behavoir like this REGARDLESS of what party they belong to. If you hahve been watching the GOP's candidates of choice I do believe they have gotten that "rude and obnoxious" part down. Must have learned it from Rush Limpballs.

Well DJ, in this case I don't think the Heckler was a "politician" but just a fanatical follower of the far right.

I am very proud of the way our President responded to the heckler. It reminded me of the way I would deal with my children when they acted up. Oh, that's right. President Obama IS a grownup. Something the right wing fanatics haven't evolved to yet.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it.

Obama was definitely the grown up / bigger man in this scenario.

Well done Mr. President!

DJ, It's not about who heckels who. It's about how the President RESPONDED to the heckler which was very classy.

I don't think liberals unsderstand the real extent of damage they have done to the center and right of American politics by this President and his fellow Democrats in Congress. They still want to argue about the things Obama says and does and seem absolutely oblivious to the fact most of the country stopped talking him seriously when they figured out that although presented as a mental giant, that he's all hot air and hype and zero on delivery for anything other than extreme left wing ideas and positions.

They'll get in November.

Are you referring to the killing of the terrorists or the recovering economy?

It's not 2008 any more starving, Obama has been President for the past 3 years so I'm talking about his failures in both departments you cited. I'm sure you are ready to argue about it but that was my point... Save it. I'm not interested in anything liberals have to say any more.

Like I said, you'll get it in November.

Hey, LOL, it's about common courtesy. Something most right wing fanatics know nothing about. The President showed a lot of class while dealing with somebody who was rude and obnoxious.

It is funny to see how the republicans react to anything having to do with Obama, but yet their own presidential hopefuls would rather support Obama over the other guy or just want to play with their Etch A Sketch.

WTH more do you people want or expect the President to do? ANY President, for that matter? Yes, mollymop, everyone should respect him. He is the duly elected President of the United States. Aside from the fact that well over half the registered voters picked him, the Office of the President deserves respect. You think it's okay to disrespect President Obama today, you are forgetting that what goes around comes around. When and if "your guy" wins, your commentary today gives license to disrespectful Democrats to act the same way. Disrespectful conduct is not acceptable by ANYBODY and you truly show what a bunch of troglodytes you are by condoning it. I did not like President Bush but no way would I ever condone this kind of actions toward him. It is simply unacceptable. You people who know nothing about respect or manners are the same ones who are dragging this country down to the Third World level.
