Gingrich to get Secret Service protection

A spokesman for Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich campaign said the former House speaker will receive Secret Service protection in the near future. That leaves Rep. Ron Paul of Texas as the lone Republican candidate in the field without a Secret Service detail.

The heightened protection comes on the heels of Gingrich's second primary win of the campaign, in his home state of Georgia. The campaign had requested an official security detail in late February and heard Tuesday that the request had been approved.

Although Gingrich did pick up his second primary win on Super Tuesday, it will likely be his only Super Tuesday win, putting him well behind both former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the delegate count.

Santorum won Tennessee and Oklahoma, two Southern states that Gingrich had hoped would give him momentum going forward. Gingrich also failed to get on the ballot in the state where he currently resides - Virginia - and he did not even vote in that state's primary, where only Romney and Paul were on the ballot.

It's true that Neut is in grave danger...from the well-armed reich-wingers who realize that The Pillsbury Dough Perv could be the final nail in the coffin of the GOP.

No Democrat would ever think of turning off the egomaniacal rantings of this foul, money-grubbing "swinger"

With Romney or Santorum as their candidate, the GOP will merely lose big time...

With Gingrich as the Republican standard bearer, America has an opportunity to rid herself of these treasonous obstructionists working against the interests of the American people for partisan political gain once and for all.

All they want...all they strive for, is to be returned to POWER (where the big money is)

Intentional or not, the fat little SOB CAN be a force for positive change...

What a waste of taxpayers money! NO primary candidate should receive Secret Service. If they want security, they should pay for it themselves, it should be a part of running the campaign. If they are elected then they can get Secret Service protection. Good thing we don't have a deficit anymore and can afford this!

What an utter WASTE of tax payer money.

This guy has 10% of the states. He doesn't have a snow ball's chance in hell of winning.

Why are we wasting our money on SS protection?
