Rush Limbaugh: Apology to Sandra Fluke was "sincere"

Rush Limbaugh said Monday his comments attacking a young activist as a "slut" and a "prostitute" because she is pushing for wider access to contraceptive coverage were "inappropriate and uncalled for," and apologized again for the remarks.

"Those two words were inappropriate," Limbaugh told listeners during his radio program. "They were uncalled for. They distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make."

"I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her," Limbaugh added, echoing an earlier apology posted on his website. "I do not think she is either of those two words. I did not think, last week, that she is either of those two words. The apology to her over the weekend was sincere. It was simply for using inappropriate words in a way I never do. And in so doing I became like the people we oppose. I ended up descending to their level."

As a growing number of advertisers announce their decisions to pull sponsorship from the conservative talk show host's controversial radio program, the host undertook damage control Monday -- though he did not back off the sentiment behind his position. He suggested that he made the comments because he "descended" to the level of those on the left.

"In fighting them on this issue last week, I became like them," Limbaugh said of the left. "Against my own instincts, against my own knowledge, against everything I know to be right and wrong, I descended to their level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke. That was my error, I became like them and I feel very badly about that."

"The government has no business doing any of this - people's bedrooms, mandating that other citizens pay for other citizens' social activities and so forth," he said.

AOL on Monday became the ninth company to publicly cut ties with Limbaugh's program since he called Fluke a "slut" last Wednesday, citing the need for "integrity."

"At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity," the company said in a statement. "We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh's comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show."

On Monday, former Republican presidential candidate John McCain called the comments "totally unacceptable" in an interview with "CBS This Morning," adding that people on both sides of the political aisle should speak out against the statement.

"He has influence because he has a strong conservative base," McCain told CBS News' Charlie Rose. "I know that. But those statements were unacceptable in every way and should be condemned by everyone, no matter what their political leanings are."

Fluke, in an appearance on ABC's "The View" Monday, said Limbaugh's earlier apology doesn't change anything.

"I don't think that a statement like this, issued saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything," Fluke said in the appearance prior to Limbaugh's Monday remarks. "Especially when that statement is issued when he's under significant pressure from his sponsors, who have begun to pull their support from the show."

Sorry, Rush. When you are already at the lowest level on the food chain, it isn't possible to descend anywhere. You are scum, you meant every word of it, and everyone knows it.

He "decended" to their level???.... Oh how funny!!!!! HaHaHaHaHa.... Apparently he is sorry to have "descended" to the liberal level but makes NO MENTION of being sorry about his personal attack upon the young woman. His OPINIONS are sorry and HE is most definitely "sorry" but not apologetic at all.

Rush represents everything WRONG with the conservative movement in this country today; bigoted, intolerant, hateful, and racist and anti-middle class. He's the face of the Republican party. That's why the GOP will lose the general election, that's why Republican governors are being recalled from states, and that's why Republicans will most likely lose the House this fall, too.

Yes, Rush...

You were "sincere" in your latest "apology" in an effort to keep even more advertisers from jumping ship...

We all know that sincerity is the most important thing in life, Rush...and once you've learned how to fake that...you'll have it made...

Unfortunately for you though, Rush...you can't do "sincere" worth a damn...you really suck at it!

That supercillious smirk of yours always gives you away...it very much resembles the triumpthant smirk a perv might wear when recalling some past depravity

And then you segue into a routine about "descending to the Liberal's level...and for THAT you are truly sorry"

Some "sincere" apology...

Even an egocentric pill-head like you should have known that you weren't supposed to be playing to that hate-filled, ignorant bunch you call listeners...but to those who might wind up serving on the jury that will probably set new records for awarding Ms Flake many, many millions because you and your attorneys will have doubtlessly enraged them by launching further personal attacks on Ms Flake, condemning the "Liberal Elite Media" and all those anti-American subversives who want to stop you from bringing the "truth" to the American people

You'll do it to yourself, Rush...YOU JUST CAN'T SHUT UP!

Advertisers and Stations Fleeing; Rush Limbaugh May Have Finally Crossed The Line

After calling Georgetown University law school student Sandra Fluke a "slu_t" and saying if insurance was required to cover contraception that she should record her sex acts and make them public, 14 advertisers have ditched the Rush Limbaugh Show in response to social media pressure.

Contact the FCC to file a complaint against Rush Limbaugh for soliciting pornography via public airwaves. This is an excellent option!! Contact information...

Limbaugh advertisers keep heading for the exits

Rush Limbaugh's mouth is taking a bite out of his wallet.

Nine advertisers and a radio station in Hawaii dropped his show after he called a law student a 'slu_t' and a 'prostitute.'

Seems as if conservitard hate radio is on its way out in America!

Rush Limbaugh Ratings Tumble

Rush Limbaugh's ratings have fallen sharply in recent months, and had already been dropping considerably before his latest blunder.

His audience has dropped by 33 percent since October. And he's not the only one--Sean Hannity's ratings have also slipped by 28 percent.

The heavy-hitters of conservative radio talk shows are bleeding listeners according to an industry report, which says Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and others hit a "slump" from which they've failed to recover.

Given that Hannity's and fellow conservative Mark Levin's evening show are both down 28 percent, we have to wonder if the loud-mouthed, apocalypse-warning, slur-slinging pundits are a fad that's cooling like shutter shades.

As advertisers are fleeing to the exits after rush limpbaugh's latest blunder, America might be done with rush and the loud-mouthed, apocalypse-warning, slur-slinging pundits.
