PENSACOLA, Fla. - Actor Jon Voight campaigned here Saturday on behalf of Mitt Romney, calling the ex-Massachusetts governor "a man of faith, honor, love, and truth. These are the first very important qualities a president must have."

Voight is a staunch Republican who campaigned for Sen. John McCain's presidential bid in 2008.

He said President Obama "decided to follow his father's footsteps and take us to socialism."

Voight, who starred in the movies "Midnight Cowboy" and "Coming Home" and appeared in the television series "24," is the father of actress Angelina Jolie, with whom he has had a famously difficult relationship.

Romney told the crowd he didn't know what to discuss when first speaking to the actor: "I started talking about my five boys. I said, 'You know, it's easier to raise boys than girls.'"

Romney said there was a long pause and then Voight responded, "Tell me about it."

Voight drew attention during the 2008 presidential campaign when he starred in a movie, "September Dawn," which chronicled the 1857 massacre in southern Utah of more than 100 Westward-bound Christian settlers by members of the Mormon Church who posed as Indians.

At the time of its release, Voight denied the movie was a critique of Romney, who is Mormon, and praised the candidate for his willingness to fight religious fanaticism.

What keeps me awake at night about Mitt Romney is that this man supports the NDAA, and praises the devaluation of the dollar to 2% so he can fund his "greatest military of the earth" and trade war with China. To put into context, the Wiemar hyperinflation which raised eggs from .50 marks to 11 BILLION marks was done by devaluing the Germany mark to 4 to 5%!! This fact alone disqualifies him. There goes your savings, your investments, insurance, and paycheck. He believes in this devaluation because of the saturation of Keynesian economic thought in all academic schooling we receive. The Keynesian model discredited itself by the events of the 70s and early 80s with the recession and then the crash of 2008. Romney does not believe that the national debt is a problem, while China is so scared of the fact that they are turning to gold as a refuge from the debasement of the dollar. We cannot let this man destroy our currency to fund his "Mr. Sunshine" goals of a grand legion army and tromping of american values far and wide. The banks have stated their full support behind their candidates Romney and Obama, and I see Ron Paul as the only alternative who will end the Fed's policy of sucking the value out of your savings.

That's about right-Jon Voight hasn't worked in years, living off the land and fighting for the right to fleece America....How heroic.

Let's not forget Mitt is a very wealthy individual period
Wealth by its nature creates in an individual the endeavor or the essence to not care ,
How does mitt empathsize with most of us who struggle with the costs of daily life, Mitt would have been in the trenches long before now if he walked the walk and talked the talked! Caring means setting an example!
Mitt strikes out three times when he comes to bat

Keeping things feisty, Angelina Jolie referred to the GOP candidates' run as "fascinating" but "somewhat bizarre TV". I'll second that. Her father's daughter? Definitely!! ...

"faith" has nothing to do with politics you idiot... nobody has a clue about the afterlife. These stupid people weaving religion into places it doesn't belong are a joke.

Voight's pro-Israel, so one would think he'd go with Speaker Gingrich given who's financing the Speaker!

One also has to wonder why Voight's supporting Romney given McCain's support for Romney.

Angelina's Jolie

Jon Voight has been promised the job of acting Vice-President if Chris Christie doesn't make it through the White House doors.
