Record on Romney's 2010 tax return differs from financial disclosure: report

Tax attorney weighs in on Romney's returns

Mitt Romney

Updated at 7:20 p.m. ET

The parsing of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's tax returns turned up at least 23 "funds and partnerships" that were listed on his 2010 form but not on his most recent financial disclosure form, news organizations reported on Thursday.

Romney's campaign downplayed the discrepancy.

"To be clear, these are of a minor technical nature and reports to the contrary are inaccurate," said campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

The Los Angeles Times found that "at least 23 funds and partnerships listed in the [Mitt and Ann Romney's] 2010 tax returns did not show up or were not listed in the same fashion on Romney's most recent financial disclosure," the paper reported.

Some of the funds, the Times reported, were based in low-tax foreign countries such as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and Luxembourg.

Romney's campaign disputed this aspect of the Times's report.

"Every single one of these investments are taxed to the Romneys in the United States," Saul said.

Paying taxes is for little people. Christian Republicans are exempt from the laws of our country.

What is interesting is that Romney will not release his returns prior to 2010 because of all of the offshore hiding of his money (because he did not want it to be an issue). Come on Mitt-man up like your father did and release at least 10 years. You are trying to say that President Obama is trying to make the USA like Europe. However, you are the one with Swiss and Cayman bank accounts.

Seriously, in this day and age, how can anyone in their right mind think they could run for office of the President of the United States when they had boatloads of money stashed in offshore accounts from the Caymans to Europe? Reallly!!! Give it up, Mitt. Besides, neither you or Gringrich has a chance against President Obama. You'll just be a Goldwater footnote for this generation.

Yeah. We are better off with a Congressman who takes bribes or gives special favors to his friends. I would rather take my chances on someone who made money the hard way through hard work and brains.

Because most people are smart enough to see through all the "gotcha" moments like this one and realise what spin is. You appear to be an exception. Congratulations.
