Congressman regrets knocking Michelle Obama's "large posterior"

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner is apologizing for comments he made about Michelle Obama that were overheard in an airport Wednesday, when the Wisconsin Republican was reportedly heard complaining that "she lectures us on eating right while she has a large posterior herself."

Fishbowl DC reported yesterday that an unnamed Democratic operative had heard a "very loud" Sensenbrenner, pictured at left, make the comments while talking on the phone in the Delta Crown lounge at Reagan National Airport. The source claimed the Congressmen was relaying a story about his response to a woman who had praised the first lady at a church auction three weeks earlier.

According to the Journal-Sentinel, church members heard Sensenbrenner mocking the first lady's "big butt" at that event on December 10.

Michelle Obama has worked to fight childhood obesity through healthy eating and "let's move" initiatives. According to the Fishbowl DC report, Sensenbrenner suggested on the phone Wednesday that the first lady needs to learn to follow her own advice.

Sensenbrenner spokesperson Amanda Infield told Fishbowl on Thursday that the lawmaker would apologize.

"Mr. Sensenbrenner was referring to the First Lady's healthy food initiative," she said. "He doesn't think the government should be telling Americans what to eat. While he may not agree with all of her initiatives, he plans to contact the First Lady's office to apologize for his comments."

Sensenbrenner, meanwhile, released a statement that he had already sent a note to Mrs. Obama.

"I regret my inappropriate comment and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing," he said, according to the Journal-Sentinel.

What about Joe Biden's comment? According to a report in the Daily Rash, during a state dinner the vice president called Michelle Obama's new haircut "ghetto chic." http://www.thedailyrash.com/joe-biden-calls-michelle-obamas-new-hairstyle-ghetto-chic

If the First Lady shouldn't speak out about child obesity, who should? If you want to send your kid to school with twinkies & a bag of potato chips, she isn't stopping you. But if your kid gets lunch from school, you should be thankful someone is pointing out that many of the lunches being served are really bad.

Child obesity is obviously a major problem in our country. Anyone who wants to complain about the deficit, without looking at the impact of obesity on healthcare costs is a moron. Fat men who make fun of Michelle Obama are hypocritical morons. Seriously... most of these people making nasty comments about Michelle Obama are in terrible shape compared to her.

Sensenbrenner is a buffoon and a dumbassed bumpkin. Bar room sexists are frequently physically challenged (fat assed) like him. I'm sure the First Lady can rise above that kind of slob behaviour

And while we're at it, Sensenbrenner should probably get on national TV and apologize to the President for insulting his wife in public multiple times. And Senselessbrainer should then thank his stars that it isn't Andrew Jackson in the White House, or Harry Truman. Given the standard of discourse set by the entire republican party it would warm my heart if President Obama used this insult to give that entire sorry lot the public dressing down they all deserve.

What a pity that some Americans are such simple and petty people, that they have to attempt to ridicule the First Lady. It says more about them than it ever could about her. She has class and grace, they have jealousy and ignorance. This Congressman is an embarrassment to the people he represents.

American liberals are hardly without sin, but at least we never treated Laura Bush or her daughters the way the "Family Values" crowd have raged against Hillary and Chelsea, Michelle, Malia and Sasha.
