DNC not letting go of Romney's $10K `bet'

Mitt Romney

Updated 11:13 a.m. Eastern Time

In its latest attempt to embarrass Mitt Romney over his $10,000 bet line at Saturday's GOP debate, the Democratic National Committee is hiring an airplane to circle over New York and New Jersey on Wednesday with a 175-foot sign that reads: "Bet you 10k Romney's Out of Touch." Romney has several fundraisers planned in the New York area.

But how much will such a stunt cost? Around seven times less than Romney's bet total, DNC spokesman Michael Czin said.

The DNC is trying an additional embarrassment tactic: trumpeting tea party favorite Christine O'Donnell's endorsement of Romney on Tuesday less than half an hour after Romney's campaign announced it. O'Donnell became the subject of national ridicule in last year's Delaware Senate race after she acknowledged that she once "dabbled in witchcraft" and made other well-publicized gaffes.

The Romney campaign responded that "[t]he White House is so scared at the prospect of facing Mitt Romney in the general election, they are going to great lengths to try and tear him down."

"The last thing President Obama wants to do is run against a conservative businessman who has worked in the real economy and have to explain why his policies have been unable to get millions of Americans back to work," said Romney Spokesperson Andrea Saul. "On the other hand, if Newt Gingrich is our party's nominee, then the choice in next year's election will be between two Washington insiders with no experience in the real world of job creation."

This bet thing is as innocent as saying "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse". But if you were a candidate you'd have people saying you are mean to animals or what do you have against Burger King or PETA would be picketing.
It's no crime his numbers have more zeros than the way I think. obama obviously had a hard time with change.

The DNC is STILL blaming Bush. They don't let anything go...except a good idea or a balanced budget.

Romney has to live with it now.
What stupid thing to do betting 10K like Little Richie Rich.
He could have made his point in a different way.
He really does seem out of touch with the rest of the nation who is struggling to hang on just like Obama is.

Your username says it all...Collect all the words that you've spoken in a day, and lets see how you hold up...
Even the few that you've spoken expose your discontent and bitter sentiment against those you label "Little Richie Rich".

That's ridiculous....Name one candidate out there who has not said something similar in their lifetime. Some of us do it everyday. It's more often than not just a figure of speech for engaging someone. How many times do people say "good luck" and not even know that it's also a short way of saying "good lucifer"?
People should really guage the intentions of ones heart when evaluating someones integrity. Perry for example, isn't the brightest bulb, but he seems to be the most sincere guy out there, in my opinion. What would you rather have, a candidate with flawless speech and a corrupt heart, or a stammering genius who connects with the people on all the issues? We have this lofty expectation and stalking prejudice towards people, contrived by what we collect from their outward display, and disregard the core person.
If we were to record all the words behind the scenes, of all the people we admire the most, we would probably be disgusted that we ever thought so highly of that person. Get real. I bet anyone out there ten thousand dollars that you can't justify this circus act circling over New York and New Jersey...neither can the DNC prove that Mitt is out of touch...I'm sure he regretted those words because of the impact that they had. I'm poor myself, but I just made the same bet...come on...get off your high horse and smell reality for yourselves...

They should not "let go of it". It is clearly a crime, a FELONY under Iowa criminal statutes, which will remain, if he is nominated, elected and takes office, an impeachable offense. It makes him unelectable for this reason. He could still face a ten year prison sentence, if Iowa laws are enforced.
