Rick Perry ad: I'm not "politically correct"

Updated 5:29 p.m. Eastern Time

Rick Perry's presidential advertising continues to channel the political fights of the 1990s.

Having been critical of gays in the military and President Obama's supposed "war on religion" in a previous ad, the Texas Governor is out with a new spot in which he claims that Americans don't get the truth about Washington because it's not "politically correct."

"Washington is the capital of political correctness," says Perry, speaking directly to the camera. "Where double speak reigns and the truth is frowned upon. Ya can't say that congressmen becoming lobbyists is a form of legal corruption. Or that we give aid money to countries who oppose America. Or that Washington insiders are bankrupting Social Security. You and I know it's true -- but not politically correct. I'm Rick Perry, an outsider who will overhaul Washington and tell you the truth, and I approve this message."

The ad, which does not mention Perry's rivals, will run on national cable and Iowa broadcast and cable, according to the Perry campaign.

Perry, a onetime frontrunner in the polls, has slipped to single digit support nationally. But thanks to his strong fundraising - only Mitt Romney has a comparable war chest - Perry has the money to make a strong paid media push before the January 3 Iowa caucuses.

Perry's use of the phrase "politically correct" in his ad doesn't square with the traditional use of the phrase, which is more often tied to overly careful handling of topics like race and gender.

Perry said on Fox News Tuesday that there should be more limits on members of Congress becoming lobbyists. While Perry rival Newt Gingrich never registered as a lobbyist, he made millions of dollars brokering influence after his time as House Speaker.

"We need to look at banning the ability of members to become lobbyists or at least extending the waiting period beyond the current law, and we also need to look at the definition of lobbying," he said. "You know, a lot of these members of the legislature or members of Congress, they become quote, consultants, to trade and lobbying organizations without actually registering as lobbyists. But you and I both know that's just you're hiding behind a definition -- this is like Bill Clinton saying what the definition of 'is' is."

Rick Perry is definitely the quintessential Come-Back Kid. He was GREAT on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and spoke with confidence and knowledge about all the issues, in spite of old Chris trying to get a "Gotcha." It's time for conservative voters to coalesce around the only truly viable candidate, and that's Rick Perry. He will get better in these crappy debate formats, and he will ultimately defeat Obama.
Welcome back, Governor! Perry - 2012

Race and gender my rosy red rectum.!

Political correctness is a cancer eating away at our traditons, our customs and our rights.

No religious representations on public buildings (Ten Commandments in front of court house removed), churches asked not to put up religious scenes at Christmas and Easter, businesses asked not to use the words Merry Christmas (only Happy Holidays is politically correct, Christmas trees upside-down and the list goes on and on.

Find the person who coined this phrase and deport him to Siberia.

Remove the phrase from the English language forever.

Political correctness has damaged every aspect of our lives from dealing with other countries (supposed diplomacy) to destroying the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

What this country need are leaders who are honest, posess integrity, are not bent on destroying th US as we knew it and have the best interests of American citizens and the US as a whole as their chief objectives.

Trouble is finding such people.

The 545 people currently running this country are only interested in bettering their own lives and to hell with the rest of us.

Sen Orrin Hatch (R- Utah) was largely responsible for the failure of the appointment of the person Obama reccommended to oversee the new banking regulations and other measures to prevent the collapse of the economy again.

God forbid any measures should be put into place to protect the public from political greed.

Here are two phone numbers where you can reach Hatch and voice your opinion on both him and all Republicans who are bent on keeping big business, Wall Street, banks and the wealthy on top.

202-224-5251
801-625-5672

Give him a call.

Don't wait until 2012 until 2012 to start taking our country back.

The current President and the other 544 people who say they have the best interests of the US and Americans have done more damage; with their "NO" attitudes; than any I can remember.

Elsewhere on this page there appears an article concerning the amount of money in the war chests of Republicans in the race for the Presidency.

What more proof do we need that all politicians; from the President on down; are bought and paid for.

Look back on all the bills submitted that have failed; because some politicians refused to vote for it with out some attempt at blackmail to get their way.

John Boehner is particularly responsible for keeping any legislation from being passed until the very last minute and keeping the public in a state of chaos wondering what the hell is going to go wrong for them next.

This is not governing, this is game playing and playing games with American lives should not be allowed to continue.

'Political Correctness' (as well as 'McCarthyism') was indeed invented by the same people who often do send their political enemies to Siberia - The Communists of Russia.

Banking regulations were NOT the cause of the Housing Crisis and the havoc it caused on our economy but, you'ld obviously prefer to whine about something you haven't lifted a finger to know anything at all about. Hint: Community Reinvestment Act

AND Obama Czars are positions outside our Constitution of government positions which are redundant to those responsible. Got Shame??

Obama and his Politburo continue to demand to any opposition to their agenda that it's their way or the highway yet, you snivel about Republicans. Obviously, you have absolutely no idea what's going on but, have no compunction nor shame in crying about it.

Funny how Mr. perry turned off the comment feature this time on his You Tube account. I guess the 500:1 ratio of 'you su*k' comments on the last one took its toll. What I don't understand is Mr. Perry disparaging lobbyists. If it weren't for lobbyist who would Rick appoint to his commissions and cabinet?

I hope this goes on for months, it's very entertaining.
One thing the right has proven throughout the debates is the
theory of evolution, We have seen in a matter of months how
humans evolve into jackasses.

Russian immigrants of New York publicly warned that Obama is too much of a Communist for their tastes and here you are suggesting the two parties have switched symbols??

That's pretty darn funny, Comrade.
