Rick Perry: Herman Cain needs to address allegations

Hermain Cain "needs to address these allegations," Texas Governor Rick Perry said of the latest reports that his fellow GOP presidential contender had a 13-year extramarital affair and was "reassessing" his campaign.

"That's the bottom line," Perry said in an appearance on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" on Wednesday morning. "He needs to address the allegations and if they're true he has to address that with the people of this country."

It was the first time Perry addressed the most recent accusations against Cain. When the Atlanta businessman faced charges of sexual harassment last month, Perry said he preferred to leave the issue alone until something was proven.

The hosts also pressed Perry on what he would do with illegal immigrants living in the U.S., a topic he has refused to discuss until the border was secure. He continued to dodge, saying that he wanted to "listen to the American people" on the issue and have a discussion with Congress.

Perry also avoided commenting on fellow candidate Newt Gingrich's plan to create a "red card" system to legalize people in the country without papers while denying them a chance at citizenship. The Texas governor only had this to offer: "I'm not for amnesty in any form or fashion."

Addressing a gaffe he made during a town hall in New Hampshire on Tuesday -- during which he incorrectly said the voting age was 21 and the date of the election Nov. 12 -- Perry made light of the mistake. "From time to time we all will get something wrong, the president of the United States said there was 57 states one day."

But not even this interview was gaffe-free; Perry accidentally referred to the "New Hampshire caucuses" when New Hampshire has a primary system. Oops.

I think Herman Cain needs to have his eyes checked if he risked his marriage and his future on a *****-looking mutt like Ginger White.

Perry has to be the biggest idiot to have run for President in the last century. Who is he to lecture anybody about anything? The guy is an absolute moron who makes gaffes daily. Maybe Cain has a problem with his cane, but Perry has one with his brain.

Rick, you need to focus on your own problems and let Her-man "reassess" on his own.

Rick Perry is giving somebody else advice? On 'Fox and Friends'? On the FAUX BOGUS Channel? How low can GOP politics get? Sarah Palin was not too bright and fake on just about every level, but in hindsight she looks like a genius compared to this crop of losers.

And I think Perry needs to address the (not only allegations but) evidence that Perry is dumber than a rock.

Do we REALLY want a president that consistently makes stupid mistakes?

"Oh darn! I hit the red button and accidentally nuked Toronto and London! Oops."

Yes, Cain needs to address the allegations and you, Perry, need to go away. Cain might be a womanizer but you are stupid.

I figure the tipster contacting Fox in Atlanta about White and Cain probably worked for Perry who desperately needs to re-ignite his "dead in the water," candidacy, Sterling Greenwood/AspenFreePress

I don't see why Cain needs to address these issues unless he is going to continue the campaign. But I don't see that happening.
Perry is focusing on the "no-competition" when he should be focusing on the future field of contenders.
