Polls suggest Herman Cain losing support

Bad news for Perry, good news for Cain?
After initially maintaining his support in the wake of sexual harassment allegations, the drumbeat of negative stories appears to be catching up to White House hopeful Herman Cain.

Support for Cain among Republican primary voters has dropped sharply compared to his support before the late October revelations that he was accused of sexual harassment while head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, new polls suggest.

A new CNN/ORC international poll taken November 11-13 has Cain at 14 percent among Republicans - down from 25 percent in mid-October. Cain trails Mitt Romney (at 24 percent) and Newt Gingrich (22 percent) in that poll, and is within the margin of error of Rick Perry, who garners 12 percent support.

The CNN/ORC survey also showed Cain's unfavorable rating at 44 percent, vs. 29 percent favorable - a higher unfavorable rating than any GOP candidate other than Rick Perry, who was at 47 percent unfavorable. Cain was at just 10 percent unfavorable in that poll in June, though a majority of voters at that time said they had not heard of him.

Meanwhile, a new Politico/George Washington University Battleground Poll, conducted November 6-9, suggests that Cain may have been particularly damaged by the press conference one week ago involving Cain accuser Sharon Bialek, and attorney Gloria Allred. That press conference was widely covered and featured some of the first concrete details of allegations against him. (Allred plans another press conference featuring a witness to the alleged harassment Monday.)

As Politico points out, Cain won the support of 40 percent of Republican primary voters in the portion of the survey taken on Sunday, the day before the press conference. He was down to 22 percent on the Monday of the press conference, and had fallen to 19 percent by Wednesday.

Cain's biggest problem appears to be with women: In the Politico/George Washington poll, he was at 32 percent among men but just 21 percent among women. That matches the findings in the CBS News poll out Friday, which showed him falling from 28 percent support among female of Republican primary voters in late October to 15 percent among them last week. That poll also found that 30 percent of Republican primary voters say the allegations of sexual harassment make them less likely to back Cain, a figure that rises to 38 percent among women.

On Sunday night, Cain's wife Gloria took to Fox News to question the allegations, saying her husband "totally respects women.

Cain is still polling at or near the top in most polls. A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey has him statistically tied atop the GOP field with Romney, while a Kellyanne Conway's Polling Company shows Cain tied with Gingrich as the top choice of Iowa Republican voters, with 20 percent support.

The Herman Cain Art Project is drawing to a close. Enjoy it while you can!

His economic plan is taken directly from the video game "Sim City 4". His debate-ending inspirational quotation was from the theme song to the Pokemon movie. His "brother of another mother" line is a direct quote from the movie "Rush Hour 3". And so on.

I ask you, which other republican candidate is going to challenge us with obscure cultural references like this? None of them! Evaluated as performance artists, all of the other candidates are BIG disappointments, except perhaps for Bachmann and her current "Parallel Universe" tour.

Cain is affable, entertaining, smart. But he is not ready or qualified to be commander-in-chief. Whether or not he has been involved in sexual harassment, his handling of the situation has at best created a cloud of doubt. Not a smart bet for my money.

The only polls that show Cain losing support are the ones the Wall Street Urinal and CBS news take walking up and down the streets of Manhattan. They will tear him up because in a debate with Obama, Cain would tear him up.

I guess America had to learn he did not pay taxes, or the flip flops in the same sentence. Or that he either lies, rewrites history or conviently forgets. Or that he cowardly refuses to answer a question without an advisory in his ear. Who did he meet with just a week ago... AIE the think tank that came up with bush Iraq war- that even obama is following the timetable of. They are also pro bailout- and herman did not have a problem with the federal reserve printing trillions to hand out to banks and other corporatists until confronted with the issues- he claimed ignorance while being an insider at the fed. The 999 plan, yea that is gonna cut taxes alright, but not for the poor or middle class- too bad it is just a shelved plan from the failed 90's with the dust blown off it. Oh but right he was in charge of Godfather Pizza, big deal the sales took a nose dive that never fully recovered in the decades he was in charge.

Watch out everyone this glass cannon is ready to shatter under the heat of the spotlight.

That is not true, the lower income families will get a prebate (money returned to them) after the end of the fiscal year. They will actually save about 2 to 3 thousand dollars a year... Again for those who really want to know how this simplified tax system works (9-9-9) check the link provided here: http://999dothemath.iconosites.com/

Another thing Egads fails to mention is that 9-9-9 is only the first phase of Herman Cains tax strategy, afterwards he will try to get Congress to pass the Fair Tax system, which is proven to be one of the best economic plans out there to jump start this economy, from being a centralized - state controlled economy to one that truly promotes the free market.

A nice informative video on the Fair tax system here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUxBJ7n0T8U

Losing support? Don't overlook the fact that with his pizza comments, he deftly locked up both the arugula vote and the excessive toppings vote.

The drop is more about 9-9-9 and Foreign policy, than the accusations against him.

The more people look at 9-9-9, they will realize that is NOT a good plan, at all. None of the other candidates supported it.

Reagan's presidency was marked by multiple scandals, resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any?US president.?With his ratings bottoming out after the Iran-Contra Affair Reagan came out and said he didn't have anything to do with it, but was sorry it happened. Because he apologized ?his ratings slowly went back up, and he was even reelected. With nothing but denials and too many questions unanswered Herman Cain has given his opponents the opportunity to bring the scandal back up at any time. He will be hard pressed to keep his ratings up. He is a grown man acting like a juvenile delinquent, using verbal abuse disguised as jokes to attack women. ?I doubt even his supporters can stomach much more of it. ?The stench is sickening, smelling up the whole nomination process....oops they just brought it back up with a man coming forward. Did Cain grope him. Were they lovers? Were animals involved? These are questions sick minds want to know. We want the dirty details. Is it true he has multiple personalities, evil one minute and pious the next? What were the settlements for? What is Mr Cain hiding?

The media has yet to realize that Supporters of Herman Cain are STAUNCH!!! .He is so conservative, ?so STRONGLY CHRISTIAN, and so likable that even Democrats such as myself like him and his message. Dr Martin Luther Kings Niece and family came out in STRONG Support for HIm!!! Herman Cain's message is in many is BETTER then the traditional republican message. Cain not only wants the rich to get richer, but he also wants the poor at the very least to be able to have jobs to look for and get tax breaks. Americans aren't stupid. We KNOW what is being orchestrated agains Reverend Cain (he is an ordained baptist minister). Mr Cain also also wants to drastically simplify the tax code, leading to the eventual destruction of the IRS. An innocent man is being hung out to dry!!! WE will not stand for it.?

Democrats for Herman Cain!!!?
