Lou Dobbs Suggests Senate Run "On My Mind"

(CBS/The Early Show)
Lou Dobbs, who recently resigned from hosting a nightly show on CNN, said in his first interview since his resignation that he is "going to remain in the public arena."

Dobbs was asked by Fox News' Bill O'Reilly if he is considering a Senate run in New Jersey.

"A lot of things are on my mind, I'm not going to be coy about this," Dobbs said, though he neglected to answer the question directly. He went on to say he is "thinking about a lot of opportunities."

O'Reilly then asked Dobbs if President Obama is "the devil." (Yes, you read that right.)

"He's not the devil, but he is certainly a man who is right now not making it easy to understand why he's making the public policy choices that he is," said Dobbs, who left CNN to "carry the banner of advocacy journalism" in a more appropriate venue, in the words of network president Jonathan Klein.

Dobbs went on to question "what is taking so long to come to a decision on Afghanistan," as well as "why it is so necessary to turn over a sixth of the economy to the United States government."

Dobbs agreed with O'Reilly's suggestion that the president is "mismanaging" the country.

At the Baltimore Sun reports, Dobbs said CNN management never complained about his strong views on immigration, long a bone of contention for immigrants' rights groups. He told O'Reilly he "had absolute editorial control."

"The only issue that came up in the last 90 days of my employment there was that Jon Klein and I had talked about the issue of opinion itself and advocacy journalism, and he wanted to take the network in a different direction," he said.

Dobbs also talked about a gunshot fired at his home, which he has suggested resulted from his views on immigration.

The gunshot "followed months and months of threats on the issue of illegal immigration over our phone...and it became a matter of some intensity in the last two or three months preceding that shot," said Dobbs. "And there are those on the far left who say it just didn't happen....Well, here's the conclusive evidence to my thinking and to my wife's, and that is the threats stopped on that very day that that shot was fired."

Lou Dobbs was a breath of fresh air on CNN, and he would be in the US Senate as well. How nice it would be to have at least one intelligent, honest, reasonable politician who is focused on doing the right things for the right reasons!

Realistically, he could run only as a republican because his views on almost every major issue are polar opposite to those on the left. He could most likely not be elected as an independent, thus leaving the country with a left wing democrat.

The USA needs to fire every self serving partisan Democrat and Republican in Congress in my opinion. Since Dobbs is an independent and has targeted everything from illegal immigration, to overpaid CEO compensation, the idiot GW Bush, Obama, to the Iraq War and greed of Wall Street I'd vote for him in a second.

Be aware the CEO corporate news media would attack him just as they did Ron Paul.

Riddle me this birthers, if President Obama is so good at forging documents and had enough influence to get the FBI to cover up for him, then what makes you think a long form birth certificate would satisfy you? If you didn't believe the birth certificate he released, why would you believe anything? And therein lies the point. You need him to release more stuff so you can spin more bs.

Lou Dobbs is my hero! I have always agreed with his "no nonsense" approach to reporting the news, and his brilliant, intelligent, candid analysis of these events has never been equaled by any of his contemporaries on any station.

I see no further reason to view any further left leaning, liberal trash, which is all that CNN can be expected to pump out following the departure of this brave, patriotic American newscaster. I sure hope that somebody puts him back on the TV waves, for the sake of all of us who dearly miss him.

I would think with the birther nonsense having been thoroughly debunked long ago, anybody delusional enough to still believe that nonsense should be put into a straight jacket and hustled off to the nearest insane asylum to be lobotomized as a danger to themselves and others. It's absolute proof that they're totally disconnected from reality and are mad as hatters in own little wonderland.

Hmmm seems that CNN is perhaps going to start leaning away from commentors and their stupid opionions and rather start reporting the actual news.........maybe.

Lou is upset that he doesn't get to blab his own BIASED thoughts across the airwaves and have it deemed as what is right.

He'll be hooking up with Fox "News" in no time as another supporter of "advocacy journalism" (ie: spouting out crap that they want to complain about whether or not there are any FACTS to back up the BS that the majority of these commentators spout out)

All the news networks are now is "advocacy journalism".........I for one am sick of having to listen to hours on end of people spouting off Biased opionions instead of reporting news in an unbiased way that allows for the general public make up their own opionion.

Lou you can pack your bags with the rest of the lefties and righties on TV and let us voice our own opinions.

As we all watch Palin implode, bashing on McCain's staffers - it's nice to see that someone whom can speak a coherent sentence is considering a run of it... even if he is a racist.

That Dobbs guy has a lot of nerve, suggesting the U.S. has a right to guard its borders, and calling out Democrat and Republican legislators who turn a blind eye to the violation of U.S. borders. Mexico lets in anyone for any reason, including poor Guatemalans looking for work. What's that? It doesn't? It guards its borders zeaolusly? Sorry, didn't know.
Like most Americans, he needs to be more tolerant of people who would not tolerate us for a split second.

Mexico is quite militant in its ANTIImmigration policies..go to the South of Mexico....ugly and militant...like our border...They DONT "let anyone in for any reason".
besides...with the BIPARTISAN merging of SOCIALIST Mexico, SOCIALIST Canada and SOCIALIST United States into a SOCIALIST Constitution-destroying North American Union, all the tough on immigration and/or tough on "fairness" WON'T MATTER...as we will all be assimilated into one socialist conglomeration..with the Amero and RFIDlinked NAU Identity cards...if you think this is preposterous just to a little research.

Lou Dobbs makes ignorant outlandish statements such as his blithering "birther" remarks about Obama. He strikes me as a bloated ego-maniac no different than right-wing nut Rush Limbaugh. We don't need anymore overpaid huge egos out there telling us what we should be afraid of and how they're going to fix it.

Once we start realizing that Obama and the leftist are the real nuts in American society the better of we will be as a nation.

One of the nuttiest ego-maniacs on air is Keith Olbermann. He is a cartoon spewing his leftist contempt and hate for others upon us and has no credibility at all. Fortunately, hardly anyone watches him (his ratings are at the bottom), but still he represents the worst of the opinion broadcasters.
