Former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be speaking at an event hosted by the group Wisconsin Right to Life this evening.

It is a closed event – which generally means no press. Amid apparent worries that the ex-governor's words will be aired publicly despite that restriction, however, Wisconsin Right to Life and/or Palin's handlers are taking the notion of "closed" to a whole new level.

Check out this list of prohibited items at the event, which was spotted by CBS News Political Director Steve Chaggaris. All bags, by the way, "will be searched":

•No cell phones
•No recording devices
•No video or still cameras
•No laptops
•No photos or recording allowed
•No literature distribution
•No posters or banners
•No strollers or car seats
•No carry-in food or beverages

Tickets for the event at the Wisconsin Exposition Center outside of Milwaukee, which go for $30, appear to still be available.

The restrictions are "bizarre," according to Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate.

"You know, for someone who claims to be a rogue and isn't afraid of what other people think it really is sort of hypocritical to not let the media, the press cover your event," he told Wisconsin Radio Network.

Palin's memoir "Going Rogue" is set to be released in less than two weeks, and she is planning a publicity tour.

Why would any member of the press find these precautions unusual when they misquote, misread, and fail to perform rudimentary research on their stories.... ?

she makes my flesh crawl everything from the fake folksy dolly parton glad handling to her giant shiny chin but she has inadvertently provided some laughs --i thought women would be better established in politics by intelligent front runners first before we got an x chromosone dan quayle. the palin-drone can be read in any direction-result still the same-the emperor has no clothes--somebody please get a recording -it would not be that hard to do and could provide additional merriment for the festive season

Palin has never held a news conference with real reporters & questions! This has got to be a record of some sort. Hand picked one on one's do not count. There has never been a more manipulated image in US political history with absolutely nothing behind it. She is vacuous!!!

Fear and paranoia are the infallible identifying features of the 'new conservatives'.

Fear of progress and paranoia about nearly everything.

Can you imagine what restrictions would have been in place if she had been VP?

She has a Messiah complex? Can you spell Obama? Too funny! She is delivering a message to those attending the event, period. Why do you even care to comment. The answer is Liberals/Progressives/Marxists will always tell you who they are afraid of. It's the one they try hard to demonize.

I hope this is a permanent policy re:Sarah.

Then we won't have to listen to any more of her ignorant sound bites.
