Harry Reid Trailing Potential 2010 Challengers

(AP)
Senate Majority Leader Leady Harry Reid could be in trouble in his 2010 reelection bid: A new Mason-Dixon poll finds that the Nevada senator is now trailing two possible Republican challengers as he seeks a fifth six-year term.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the survey finds that Reid trails real estate developer Danny Tarkanian 48 percent to 43 percent in a hypothetical matchup. He fares even worse against former GOP party official Sue Lowden, who leads Reid 49 percent to 39 percent.

The poll finds that Reid's favorable rating stands at just 38 percent, while 50 percent of the state's voters have an unfavorable view.

Reid is trying to avoid the fate of former South Dakota Sen. Tom Daschle. In 2004, Daschle had been the Democratic leader in the Senate but narrowly lost his seat to John Thune.

Reid's powerful position means he should be able to raise a significant amount of money and potentially attract big-name endorsements for his reelection bid. But national Republicans see Reid as a target whose defeat would signal a dramatic GOP rebound following Democratic dominance in recent elections.

"Senator Reid has never put much stock in polls," Reid campaign manager Brandon Hall told the newspaper. "…As the election draws closer and voters are presented with a choice between moving our economy forward and the status quo, we are confident that Senator Reid's vision of moving forward will prevail."

I can't understand why the people of Nevada don't like Harry anymore? Could it be because of this?
Reid Jobs Bill Gives Tax Breaks for Hiring Illegal Workers
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) unveiled his jobs bill last week that proposes tax exemptions and tax credits for employers who hire and retain workers?regardless of their immigration status. Senator Reid introduced his bill, entitled the ?Hiring Incentives to Restore
Employment Act,? immediately after shelving a more extensive bill authored by Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the Chair and Ranking Member of the Finance Committee. In doing so, Reid said he wanted to focus clearly on the ?jobs message? he thought the Senate should be sending to the American people. (Roll Call, Feb. 16, 2010).

Bye Bye Harry - You make Tom Daschle look conservative. The WAR IS LOST LEADER OF THE SENATE is too liberal for 90% of Nevada. He is even losing Clark County. OMG. Where's Mayor Goodman? Seems like Harry is in BIG trouble - watch him move to the Ceneter after the first of the year. Amazing turn-around coming after Helath care and immigration reform (aka amnesty) passes.

I am a big fan of Obama, voted for him, and voted mostly for Democrats last election although I am an independent. Frankly, I would be happy to see Harry go. I think he, and Nancy Pelosi, are a drag on the Democratic party, too far left for most people's taste, and are not positive enough.

Reid may be in for a fight. After all, he represents a State and that is a lot tougher to win than a district.

But don't get all warm and fuzzy about Mrs. Pelosi. Her district is so blue, you can't even find shades of purple, mush less red.

I am absolutely FOR term limits. I mean this for Democrats, Republicans or Democrats-who-become-Republicans or Republicans-that-become-Democrats, for liberals, for conservatives, for libertarians, for moderates, men, women and uncertain.

All of our elected officials need to be kept on a far tighter leash...

And how about campaign finance reform. Yes, yes, yes...

SHEETPAN says:
The key sentence in this article is that Reid is seeking his 5th term. He's been there for 23 Years. It's time for him to go home. Two terms for a senator are enough. The President only gets Two, and thats 8 years. Power corrupts both parties and term limits would help remove some of the corruption, special favors and waste of money earmarks that infect D.C.

AMEN!!! It is way beyond the time for term limits. We need someone to represent us, the American people, other than these self-serving, lifetime D.C. politicians such as Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi!

You beat me 'to the punch!' That's pretty much what I was thinking!

But, I don't think he's going to be alone! Some incumbent buddies will probably be going back home as well...and they should...they haven't been doing the job the PUBLIC elected them for!!!
