Alan Grayson Apologizes to the Dead, not Republicans

Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson generated conservative anger with a speech last night in which he said, in regard to the GOP health care plan, "Republicans want you to die quickly if you get sick." (Watch it at left.)

The comment prompted calls for Grayson to apologize from Republicans and the threat of the introduction of a resolution of disapproval on the House floor similar to the resolution censuring Republican Rep. Joe Wilson for his "you lie!" outburst at President Obama.

Now Grayson has apologized – though it's probably not going to placate his critics. On the House floor this afternoon, the confrontational Florida representative said he wanted to apologize because according to a Harvard study, more than 44,000 Americans die every year because they lack health insurance.

"That is ten times more than the number of Americans who have died in Iraq and who died in 9/11," he continued. "But that was just once. This is every single year. That's right. Every single year."

"I call upon the Democratic members of the House, I call upon the Republican members of the House, I call upon all of us to do our jobs for the sake of America, for the sake of those dying people and their families," he went on to say. "I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted sooner to end this holocaust in America."

the republican party has proclaimed themselves to be the party of religion i agree, they are exactly like religious party in jesus day they were called pharisees, jesus nearly always refered to them as hypocrites. ( people who pretend to something their not).this describes the g.o.p. in a nutshell. pretending to be for america while the truth is all there ever interested in is there own pockets and special interest groups who fill them. be sure your sins will find you out.

OUTSTANDING. Finally a Democrat who doesn't fold in the face of Republican hypocrisy. What's his address -- I'd like to send him a campaign contribution.

With Democrats, it boils down to 'moral duty' and the implementation of 'regulated capitalism'.

You mean the same democrats screaming for the release of the rapist Polanski?

Every Democrat that I have discussed Polanski believes as I do...that he should be extradited to serve his sentence.

To carry on a rational discussion 'moral duty' versus 'money' pertaining to Health Care Reform you will have to stay within the same context.

Holocaust in America? This guy should apologize to his parents for being such an embarrassment

YOU should apologize to yourself. You embarass yourself with every post you write. Tell us again how you're not a Republican.

So I am a repub because I appose stupidity? Interesting.

In order for you not appear 'stupid' you will need to learn the correct spelling or meaning of the words you use.

What you basically said was "...So I am a repub because I appose (meaning juxtapose) stupidity"

Just by coincidence I happen to be in Florida on business this week and the people calling the radio stations here about this seem to think this guy is, and always has been a joke. Not sure how he got elected.

It's about time someone gave the republicans a taste of their own medicine. I hope they do submit their resolution. And watch it get voted out of existence. I'm getting sick and tired of these loudmouth do nothings.

Their only mission in life is to stop the administration from moving the country forward and the only GOOD thing about their tea parties, their racist misspelled signs, and their facebook polls is that their behavior will make absolutely certain that the republicans will lose whatever power they still have.

As long as they continue to behave this way, the whole country knows who the idiots are.

So keep right on making noise, all you right wing nuts, you're doing the whole country a favor by telling us who you are.
