Elementary School Students Taught Pro-Obama Songs

A video showing elementary school students learning songs praising Barack Obama for his "great accomplishments" and efforts to "make this country's economy No. 1 again" is generating anger from conservatives today.

In the video at left, students at New Jersey's B. Bernice Young Elementary School are shown singing about the president, in one case to the tune of "Jesus Loves the Little Children," according to Fox News.

The video was posted at the conservative Drudge Report and reported by Fox, prompting hundreds of comments from readers such as this one: "These thugs need to be shut down! This is absurde [sic] that this is happening today in our schools. People need to rise up and crush this socializing and indoctrination of our kids."

The anger over the video is reminiscent of complaints over the president's speech to students on the importance of working hard and staying in school, which was initially accompanied by a lesson plan encouraging students to think about how they could help Mr. Obama.

Some conservatives objected to the president's address being shown to their children and it wasn't shown in some districts.

Update, 3:50 p.m. ET: Fox is reporting that Christopher M. Manno, the superintendent of Burlington Township School District, issued a statement to parents saying the students were singing the song "to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country" in conjunction with February's Black History Month.

He also wrote that the recording and distribution of the songs was not authorized by the district.

It makes me sick to my stomach the way this country is heading. I can say for sure if my kindergartener is asked to sing this song, or if it is sang in his school it will be his last day at that school. How can anyone think it is okay to praise this man.

I think we should make a song asking Barry Soetoro for his birth and college records.

He has not proven to be eligible to hold office.

Obama was born in Kenya and attend college as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia. Prove me wrong Barry, please!

just saw online where obama and his advisor who used to work for chicago school system, now are going to try to make the nations kids go to school 3 more hours a day and maybe take away their summer vacation,maybe go to school all year(i say so they can brainwash them better and make sure their indoctrination sticks)..obama and advisor said that all other countries go to school longer hours and days than us. This idea was proposed yrs. ago under who? I can't remember, but it never came to fruition. So it's not an original idea. I think I was in school at the time, so maybe 20-30 yrs ago. Does anyone remember this besides me? If you do, whose idea was it? Idea being "extend school hours or days because Japanese children are better in science and math", I think that was the statement used at the time when the idea of longer school came up yrs. ago...
