Cindy Sheehan Protests Obama's Vacation

(AP Photo/Jerry Larson)
Anti-War protestor Cindy Sheehan, the so-called "Peace Mom" who rose to fame several years ago when she protested against the Iraq War outside former President Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch, was back at it again this week.

But this time she was protesting President Obama's vacation in Martha's Vineyard.

"The reason I am here is because ... even though the facade has changed in Washington D.C., the policies are still the same," Sheehan said, according to AFP, at a rally/press conference outside the school where the press has set up shop on the island off the coast of Massachusetts.

But Sheehan no longer has the following she once had, when thousands joined her in Crawford and across the country. As CBS News White House producer Robert Hendin reports, there were was only a handful of people in her audience yesterday, in addition to the four speakers. There were more present from the media than there were protestors.

According to AFP, Sheehan said she was protesting Mr. Obama's continuation of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. She reiterated that she did not support Mr. Obama during the campaign last year. (She also ran as an independent against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and won 16 percent of the vote.)

"We are here to make the wars unpopular again," Sheehan said.

And she added this: "Martha's Vineyard is a lot nicer than Crawford, Texas."

It was easy to make fun of Cindy Sheehan. It first looked like she was a Democratic dupe just trying to make W look bad. Well, if you do a little research into just who runs the Fed show, you realize it's not the govt. but the monied interests who benefit from having govt. as their friend. Obama is a now classic *****, at least the affirmative action guy now knows what side the butter is on. I used to feel Cindy was a lunatic, but them I realized who was really running the show and how the country is being destroyed. I am really afraid for the future of this countrylike never before. If I had to choose a friend between Obama and Cindy, I'd damn sure not choose to have a beer with Barry.

Why is the photo conveniently an anti-Bush/Cheney t-shirt? Guess there were only photos from 4 years ago from her protest at the Crawford ranch... no current photo from Martha's Vineyard???... no media bias here in making that photo decision, is there?

Yea, right.

Excellent point, but at least she wasn't arrested for wearing a tee shirt at Martha's Vineyard (unless you've heard otherwise, that is), as she was at the State of the Union a few years back.......... oh, and by the way the tee shirt mentions only Cheney. You're the one that filled in the other "blank" for CBS. AND the photo was taken by Jerry Larson on July 8, 2007...........not in 2005.

Who's wrong, What's on second, It's not right or left, When's on third, Where's on first, How's on third and you're way out in center right field. But, oops, you dropped the ball - and it's a "in the park" home run.......

And look at her t-shirt, and tell me again it's Obama's "flip-flopping" that she's concerned about.
Are you now willing to admit that she doesn't oppose Obama(you never came right out and said this), she opposes his war policies? And for that matter, ANYONE in power that's promoting war??? Her agenda is really quite simple.

Bill you're an undeniable piece of work -you can dish out criticism, but when someone reminds you that this article and the post has little if anything to do with DOMA, bailouts, the evil drug industry, wiretapping and lobbyists you get all huffy, say "And you don't tell me what I have to stick to." and then start with a personal attack on me. Well guess what Bill, you go ahead and " ...continue to post everything that I have here all over this place ad infinitum just like someone asked of me and I bet that you are going to love it." - "I won't love it", as you suggest, just ignore it. And pretty soon others will understand where you're really coming from and ignore you as well - you'll be talking to yourself unless you start saying something positive and constructive..........

Why in your story, when you describe Cindy Sheehan, did you not mention an important part of her identity that her son, a soldier in Iraq, was killed in that war.
She lost a son in that war. Why did you decide that it was not important enough to mention?

You're correct. I had just a little symphathy for Cindy when she first started protesting at Crawford, but not for long. As you said, nobody forced him to join. The dems encouraged Cindy and made her the poster-child for those against the war. She got the big head, and they can't control her now. Now, they're posting comments like "put a sock in it", or "would somebody just shoot her". Great compassion those dems have now.

They're busy bowing to Saint Teddy... the great hero, champion, did I mention murderer???????

You seem to have some unresolved anger towards one party.

Ms Sheehan stated:

"We have to realize, it is not the president who is power, it is not the party that is in power it is the system that stays the same, no matter who is in charge."

"We are here to make the wars unpopular again," she said.

Seems Ms Sheehan is blaming the system, not the party in power. It remains to be seen what she'll say next about the democrats or Obama, but based on your one-sided logic, I daresay you are a bit premature with your conclusions. Why not reserve your "compassion" until a later date, when you have something of value to talk about?

And you question democratic compassion?, you're comment about "Saint Teddy" indicates a childless disregard for compassion that far surpasses any comment made by the left..... Has less value within the context of this article and post than a box of rocks.

"She is there, like she says, because the facade has changed but the policies remain the same."

Once again Bill you read until you see something you like in an article then stop because it "fits" your agenda. This is all too evident in your post just before your revelation that the title of this article is "mis-leading".... I agree with you that the title is mis-leading, but your posts are equally mis-leading when you fail to
investigate further and cite Ms Sheehan's COMPLETE statement about the reason why she chose Martha's Vineyard to PROTEST THE WARS.

This from the AFP article:

"We have to realize, it is not the president who is power, it is not the party that is in power it is the system that stays the same, no matter who is in charge."

"We are here to make the wars unpopular again," she said.

So it seems Ms Sheehan does not share your views about Obama quite so strongly as you do. She is protesting war, NOT DOMA, bailouts, the evil drug industry, wiretapping and lobbyists. Stick to the subject at hand Bill. And I don't believe she believes in your prediction, "We won't be out of Iraq even three years from now, nor will we be out of Afghanistan even three years from now."....

Here you are saying about me, "Once again Bill you read until you see something you like in an article then stop because it "fits" your agenda."

Once again, I see you personally attacking people. You really need to quit doing this. And I will continue to post everything that I have here all over this place ad infinitum just like someone asked of me and I bet that you are going to love it.

Personally attacking people is how you you start off your posts, and it is unbecoming of you. You are a liar of the highest order. I posted facts about Obama's flip flops. all you care to do is run interference for him. Aint gonna work. Everyone here knows that Obama has done everthing that I posted here. Thye know that he has flip flopped on theses things.

No, I read everything she said. That line - out of all of them - summed up best all that she said. Ms. Sheehan did not oppose Bush, she opposed his war policies, just like she opposes Obama's war policies.

I listed everthing that Obama is flip-flopping on to underscore that this has become par for the course for him. And you don't tell me what I have to stick to. You take care of yourself, that is what you will do, and I'll take care of myself.

You would rather just gloss over Obama's flip-flops and continue to be his personal butt-kisser. It really fits you. It really does. Keep kissing away.
