New Coalition Launches Pricey Health Reform Push

A new group of unlikely partners is launching an advertising campaign today to support health care reform.

Americans for Stable Quality Care, which will spend $12 million on television ads, is a coalition of the American Medical Association, FamiliesUSA, the Federation of American Hospitals, PhRMA and the Service Employees International Union, Politico reports.

The ad focuses on the consumer protections promised in health care reform proposals, a strategy the White House has adopted in recent weeks.

"What does health insurance reform mean for you?" a narrator says in the ad. "It means you can't be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition or dropped if you get sick. It means putting health care decisions in the hands of you and your doctor. It means lower costs, a cap on out-of-pocket expenses, tough new rules to cut waste and red tape and a focus on preventing illness before it strikes. So what does health insurance reform really mean? Quality, affordable care you can count on."

Targeting moderate Democrats in the House and "swing" senators, Politico reports the ad will run in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota and Virginia.

Americans for Stable Quality Care could reportedly be the largest spender in support of health reform; the pharmaceutical industry promised to spend as much as $150 million on advertising and outreach efforts in support of health reform.

The pro-reform group Health Care for America Now is also expanding its television advertising today, launching its "What if" ad in four new districts. The ad targets specific members of Congress, including Rep. Jason Altmire (D-Pa.), Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.), Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-S.D.) and Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.)

The ad titled "What If" is running for a week starting today in Congressional districts represented by Reps. Jason Altmire (PA-04), Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD-At Large), and Rick Boucher (VA-09). It's airing in upstate New York asking constituents to call their Congressmen there, and it will be on the air in New Mexico and Delaware, urging Senators Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Thomas Carper (D-DE) to support good, comprehensive reform.

It is amazing how many of you don't realize how this reform will help to rebuild our nation. This response was the same reaction to the implemenation of Medicare and Social Security benefits, imagine if someone was taking this away (this reform will keep that intact). These two policies are ran by the federal goverment. So now what is your reservation?

HealthCare Reform is not criminal, what has run it's course is the practice of Wall Street Casino Gambling with our Health.

Socialized health care is immoral.

First of all, no one is talking about "socialized health care" so you can stop with THAT lie. Second of all, how is it "immoral" to care about your fellow human beings?

We?ve had Socialized HealthCare (Medicare, Madicaid, VA, SCHIP, and in California MediCAL) for a number of years now. Along with fire, police, education, army corps of engineers, Navy, Army, Airforce, Marines, Post Office, Roads, Bridges, Parks, Beaches,

If the system was solvent to the future (we?re talking opposite of the past where the GOP lives) beneficial US economy instead of a thorn in the side, THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR THIS DEBATE!

It is time to move forward.

The tactics that Obama & Axelrod are using to force this ObamaCare on the American people should be criminal.

It will be difficult to cut through the stunning level of lies and fabrications that the republican smear machine has generated.

Hopefully most rational Americans will read these proposed bills for themselves. Then they will see that republican opposition is based entirely on lies. And is generated by dishonest republicans and blue dog democrats who are taking bribes from the Health Care Industry.

The US Economy and Business have been strangled by the ever increasing costs for Employer Provided Group HealthCare Insurance.

If, the US Government would be allowed to Pool together a larger Group Entity with lower operating costs by eliminating costly CEO Payouts, Speculators Gambling on Wall Street, and the Unethical Practices of Over Charging Patient Care our Nation's Business Owners could see relief from the cost and time devoted to managing their Employee's HealthCare Benefits and in turn see clearer profits to reinvest into their businesses or Employee compensations.

American Industry needs National Single Payer Healthcare to be able to compete on the Global Market or, we will see continued jobs lost to foreign labor.

Made in America!
