Former President Bill Clinton was in Las Vegas on Monday for a clean energy summit, during which he pointed out that "the least sexy topic is where the most jobs are."

While Clinton made the case for retrofitting buildings to be energy efficient, he may have had more glamorous events on his mind. Later that night, he celebrated his birthday at Craftsteak at the MGM Grand Hotel, one of the swankiest restaurants in Sin City, the New York Times reports.

The former president celebrated his 63rd birthday, which falls on Aug. 19, with former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, Clinton financial contributor Haim Saban and Clinton's former campaign adviser Paul Begala. Also present were Clinton's former White House chief of staff John Podesta, who accompanied Clinton to North Korea to help bring home journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling, and Hollywood mogul Steve Bing, who lent Clinton his private jet for the North Korea mission.

Clinton may not have been the only politician at the event with more than one agenda. While pushing climate change legislation through the Senate will be a serious challenge for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat also has to think of preserving his own Senate seat.

Up for re-election in 2010, Reid is facing slumping poll numbers at home, the Las Vegas Sun reports, and stood to benefit from associating with the high-profile speakers at the event, such as Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and oilman and alternative energy advocate T. Boone Pickens.

Clean energy summit, it sounds exciting.
Thanks for two reporters getting back from North Korea.
we expect to see North Korea nuclear abandon talk in future.

By the way, Smithsonian museum is one of biggest museum in USA has one big problem in History.
USA blames and even send back Nazi party people in WWII, the Nazi killed many people and Jewish.
It seems USA has understood Massacre was wrong for a long time.
But Smithsonian sells some goods off atomic bombers blew up and melted people with Nuclear weapons, Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Some folks on the globe are outrageous about this.
The atomic bomber air plane, the name " Enola Gay is an iconic character in USA, people buy the good and enjoy their lives.
It seems morally so bad , bad bad bad.
600,000 Japanese people died from WII and more than half of it were civilians.
I always wonder why USA could blame Hitler and why enjoy with victory of Atomic bombs to Japan.
Nowadays 60% of USA people say " the atomic bombs were right thing to do."
70% of them Republican , 20% Democrats, 70% over 50 years old , something like that.
I would like to ask USA people's moral and what they educate own kids usually?
How would they fix USA to safer country?
For some foreigners , USA is the one of worst country, no safe, always fighting, police system collapsed, no human rights, misjudge , still bombing , torture etc...............
But USA people don't know the world, they don't know how to enjoy life with safe and peace.
And education??? I don't want to educate kids in USA.

This was used to end the war that had taken a toll on the world and I would like to believe that we will never have another of such becuase it costs the world so much for so little.

But I must say we needed to end the war not continue so Ike made the right choice or millions more would have dided. How many would you so rightous moral people out there want to die to end it. That to me sounds like the Republicans and Iraq.

Sorry no sale the past is past and we need to learn from it not judge it.

SO I ask you, what would you have done in 1945 after years of war will thousangs of Americans killed and tortured by the Japanese? Ironically, some Japanese officers were hanged for waterboarding American service men. How does that make Bush look?

YOu are so smug and think you have all the answers, what would have been your plan? Invade Japan and lose thousands more Americans and maybe millions of Japanese?

And while some commentor mentioned Monica are they forgetting Spitzer, Sanford, Edwards and a few others that have been with other woman more than one time. And Newt is no angel either. Moncia is a woman of the past and there has been no further scandals on Clinton since. There are many married men and woman cheating everyday of the week more so than those in politics so who is kidding who.
