President Obama's Schedule Today
President Obama today will hold a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Balkenende of the Netherlands in the Oval Office. Then, Mr. Obama and Prime Minister Balkenende will hold an expanded meeting. Later, the president will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing, the Economic Daily Briefing, and meet with senior advisers in the Oval Office.
In the afternoon, Mr. Obama will travel to Michigan. The president will deliver remarks on community colleges at Macomb Community College in Warren. Then he will depart Michigan and travel to St. Louis, Missouri.
In the evening, the president will throw out the first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game at Busch Stadium. Answering Mr. Obama's call to service through United We Serve, Major League Baseball has dedicated this year's All-Star Game and the events surrounding it to highlighting the critical importance of community service. United We Serve is the president's initiative encouraging all Americans to engage in sustained and meaningful service in their communities.
During the pre-game ceremony, President Obama will also appear with all five living presidents in a video that highlights the extraordinary community service efforts of five of Major League Baseball's 30 "All-Stars Among Us." The "All-Stars Among Us" are men and women who are being recognized by Major League Baseball and People magazine for their selfless acts of giving and service to their communities.
