Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is conducting countless meetings with members of Congress on Capitol Hill in the days leading up to her Senate confirmation hearings, but that doesn't mean she can't have a little fun in Washington.

The White House on Wednesday released a photo of Sotomayor celebrating her birthday in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The judge turns 55 on Thursday.

She is surrounded in the photo by members of the White House Counsel's Office, who gave her a framed, signed picture of her with President Obama and Vice President Biden the day her appointment was announced. Deputy White House Counsel Cassadra Butts stands to her left, and Counsel to Vice President Biden Cynthia Hogan is on the right.

The party may have come as a welcome respite at a time when Republicans are honing their criticism against the nominee, questioning her commitment to certain constitutional rights, such as the right to bear arms.

"honing their criticizm against the nominee"?

More like grasping for an actual issue.

One piece of evidence that she wouldn't support the,"right to bear arms"?

Just one?

Or is the GOP gonna keep goin with the scare tactics.

Worked on BarryS,"Don't take my guns!".

You couldn't ask for a worse candidate to sit on the SCOTUS.

Yeah, this country needs more bigots in positions of power.

It's time the minority party suck it up and realize that they will not always get what they want. We've put up with political black male from King George for way too long. I hope Sotomayor cast her vote to ban firearms from day one on the Supreme Court. The gun lobby is sickening.
