Democrat Wins, As Expected, In Race To Replace Emanuel

The Chicago area has a new Congressman. Democrat Mike Quigley easily defeated two other candidates in the race to replace Rahm Emanuel, who left his seat to become President Barack Obama's chief of staff.

Quigley was expected to win in the heavily-Democratic district, but had to beat out 11 other candidates in a free-for-all primary last month.

The Associated Press has more:
Democrat Mike Quigley, a reform-minded Cook County commissioner, has claimed the high-profile Illinois congressional seat that Rahm Emanuel gave up to be President Barack Obama's chief of staff.

The 50-year-old Quigley trounced Republican nominee Rosanna Pulido and Green Party candidate Matt Reichel for the 5th Congressional District seat that Emanuel first won in 2002.

With 56 percent of precincts reporting, Quigley had 15,181 or 74 percent of the vote. Pulido had 3,948 or 19 percent and Reichel had 7 percent.

The district that includes Wrigley Field is a Democratic stronghold stretching from Chicago's wealthy North Side lakefront to ethnic neighborhoods on the northwest side and neighboring Cook County suburbs.

OK! I saw the video and was shocked. How could the so called POTUS bow to a Monarch. I guess he wants oil. Any defense for the exhaulted messiahs' actions on this total lack of guts? He may as well have said to the world that America will BOW TO ANYONE and pretty much supplicated the US to the entire world. WEAK,WEAK,WEAK. So much for the intelligence and dignity factor. Now I have seen it all. Why is'nt CBS covering this?

I think the gesture of respect by President Obama was more appropriate (to me) then the HOLDING OF HANDS LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH repeatedly did!

President Obama greeted the king of Saudi Arabia with a full bow from the waist yesterday, a move one commentator described as a violation of protocol and not worthy of the office he holds.

"I am quite certain that this is not the protocol, and is most unbecoming a president of the United States," writes Clarice Feldman in an American Thinker commentary.

The situation developed as leaders of the world attending the G20 summit in London assembled for a photograph to mark the event.

In this first image, after the king extended his hand while Obama approached, Obama bends from the waist until his head is nearly at the monarch's waist:
