With some in Congress expressing opposition to his $3.6 trillion budget plan, President Obama today released a video directly to the public. His call for citizen support evoked the populism of Mr. Obama's rhetoric on the campaign trail.

"We're already hearing the same worn arguments we've heard for years," he said, before asking supporters to write letters and make phone calls to their elected officials. "I'm asking you to head outside this Saturday to knock on some doors, talk to some neighbors."

In the video, Mr. Obama again outlined the four main aspects of his plan: creating jobs, offering affordable health care, establishing green energy initiatives and improving education. He called the budget "responsible" and said that it would "lay a foundation for lasting growth and prosperity."
