Meghan McCain, the daughter of former GOP presidential nominee John McCain, was on CBS' The Early Show this morning, where she talked about her distaste for controversial right-wing pundit Ann Coulter.

McCain has called Coulter "offensive, radical, insulting and confusing all at the same time," adding, "if figureheads like Ann Coulter are turning me off, then they are definitely turning off other members of my generation as well."

"I love the Republican Party, I spent two years campaigning with my father and I completely fell in love with the Republican Party, and I think it's hard for me to explain to my friends that are in their 20s when these icons of the party say radical things," McCain told Harry Smith. "I have a friend that's Jewish – she made anti-Semitic comments. It's hard to defend that."

"I just wish for more centrist icons in the Republican Party," she added. Asked who she felt should be the next leader of the GOP, McCain cited Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Watch the full interview below. In addition to Coulter, McCain discusses being on the campaign trail, dating, the days after the November election and her father going back to "kicking ass [and] taking names" in the Senate.

Ms. McCain, whether she has anything legitimate to say, presents herself with little class or intelligence. It is of little or no use for Conservatives to even listen to her. Those defending her are liberals. Name calling by anyone is just childish. There is little if any concern for the average American by most if not all of those "in power." No matter what anyone says, government has become TOO controlling and those trying to earn a decent living are paying taxes to support those taking advantage of the system. The rich have become too accustomed to wealth and continually want more. Criminals aren't facing the consequences necessary to keep decent citizens safe and the lack of these consequences encourage others to do wrong.

It is nice to see how Meghan can speaks for her own mind socially responsible. I have two children age 21 and 19 and both were completely turned off by Rush and Ann for their outrageous manipulating and irresponsible tune since Obama took over the White House.

Young generation are wise just like Meghan. They are young, energetic and passionate about the future of our nature. My children and their friends told me that people like Rush and Ann sent them directly to Democratic Party once and for all. Thanks to Rush and Ann for saving America with your negativiies.

Meghan never said she disliked Ann...listen up and you'll hear that was never part of her speech... nothing of the sort. She is a young lady who merely made the comment that she wasn't on board with Ann Coulter's extreme Republican rhetoric. I believe Miss McCain should be commended...! As a fairly recent Columbia University graduate, she's going to take more heat and personal attack from her peers than she could ever take from the many ill-informed and quick to attack public!
Carry on Meghan...your skin is going to toughen ...but you're bright and will carry on. Also, you have wonderful taste in music!

Best Wishes,

When will you get it? McCain was middle of the road and he LOST middle of the road does not work. Real conservatives with real values stayed home and McCain LOST. Ann and Rush are correct. Get over it.

It's important to remember that Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are entertainers. They WANT people to get emotional about what they say. They WANT to be incendiary. That's how they get attention and lots of publicity. I don't know many Republicans, or conservatives (Not always one in the same) who agree with either of them most of the time. It's just their Shtick..

Can't Meghan McCain find a job in the post-Bush economy other than being some kind of a neo-Republican media pundit? She's an early 20's heir and senator's daughter with a bachelor's degree, that's about it!

I don't mind what she is saying in repudiating the hardliners like Rush Limpbaugh and Ann Coulter, who have confused their listening audiences with mainstream America and alienated a lot of people from the GOP, but I wish McCain would do something legitimate that doesn't make her the center of media attention when she has no reason to be.

Go get a job in construction or teach in the inner city or work in a homeless shelter.

She dislikes Ann Coulter because Ann called her dad on his loser positions during the campaign. And she was right. That being said, I'm a conservative and she annoys me. I love her sense of humor but I can only take her in very small doses.
