Day 23: Obama Lauds Stimulus Compromise
4792740On his twenty-third day in office, President Obama lauded the House-Senate compromise on the stimulus package.
"I'm grateful to the House Democrats for starting this process, and for members in the House and Senate for moving it along with the urgency that this moment demands," he said.
Mr. Obama also said that the C.E.O. of Caterpillar had vowed to rehire laid off workers if and when the stimulus bill passes – though that seemed to be news to the company.
