In his remarks at the construction site in Virginia, President Obama said he understood those who charge that the stimulus plan "is too big to be implemented effectively and efficiently."
"The fact is, there's a certain amount of skepticism, much of it justified, by what we're accustomed to seeing in Washington," he said but insisted he's confident "that we can do things differently and better."
He announced plans to appoint an oversight board to monitor the spending in the stimulus package "as part of an unprecedented effort to root out waste and inefficiency."
He vowed that the federal government would be held to "new standards of accountability."

I guess you''ve been living on another planet for the last month. President Obama has said the creation of 3.5-4 million jobs is the #1 priority of the stimulus bill.
Bush doubled the national debt, killed 4000+ Americans in useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and left a bankrupt country teetering on the edge of insolvency and massive unemployment.
BUT, he wrapped himself in the flag, so that must be OK with you!
Sure, Sure, perhaps you don''t like him because he is a democrat. Perhaps you don''t like him because he is black. I''m sure there are several reasons out there for disliking him. The same goes for Bush.
The biggest difference though is Bush lied and more or less created this problem which Obama is trying to fix.
If you want America to fail then go on and continue to whine and complain. Pray for him to fail, as I''m sure you probably do. Do you best to do nothing to help. I''m sure American Idol is on soon. Perhaps you could watch that for a while.
oh... I know! Maybe you could ring up Mrs. Palin and ask her what kind of ideas she has for fixing the economy.
Basically, at least Obama is working... He is trying to fix the problem.
Plus, he has only been in office for about four weeks. Why not give a chance to succeed? Or, do you really want America to fail?
I believe that without a stimulus package, our children and grandchildren would REALLY be hurt. The economy is spiraling out of control. Investors wont invest, consumers wont spend, because both FEAR that the economy is tanking. Ironically, this FEAR is CAUSING the economy to TANK.
Time for government to invest and spend, until the private sector can get over its ''irrational pessimism''. Hopefully, that will only be a coupla years.
It has nothing to do with current mistakes" Posted by Speakinup21
It has everything to do with the "current mistakes" as you call them, the problems being confronted were exacerbated to surrent levels by Bush''s actions.
Did President Obama lie us into Iraq? No, Bush did. Are we still throwing 10 billion a month there? Yes we are. Did President Obama have Paulson beg for an emergency bailout that was no more than a handout to banks and other financial thieves? No, Bush did.
In short, did President Obama cause the problems we are all dealing with?
No, Bush did.

You have badly misread the situation AND your hero Obama. His is smart, but not the smartest I have seen. In fact, I am smarter, many Mensa members are. But that does not matter. What matters is Obama has taken the role of snake oil salesman wanting you to buy before the price goes up. Dont read the label, just drink the medicine. We.. in this case, his stimulus bill will cost each American family $16,000. thats not stimulus, its just another debt to pay off.

Keep talkin''.
One of the biggest things Obama has going for him is that he has just exactly the right enemies!!
Mensa has really lowered its standards, if they let people who think like you in.
You have no idea what Mr. Obama is planning to do with the latitude he has been given with this package, but whatever it is, you are positive it won''t work.
Part of being "smart" is realizing that no one is "smarter" than anyone else, each has a unique skill set.
If you think you are smarter, how come you are not president, and how come you only post "it won''t work" but contribute no ideas that would?
