Schumer Confident Economic Stimulus Will Pass In Senate

"Republicans won't have the luxury they did in the House of voting no and still letting it pass," Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) said about the economic stimulus package set to hit the Senate floor this week on "Face the Nation."

"This will pass with Republican votes because it is a good package and we will make some changes around the edges," Schumer said.

On those "changes," Schumer said there are "little things" that will come out of the final package because Republicans can make amendments on the floor.

"This is serious, serious stuff," he asserted and said he hopes Senate Minority Leader does not do what House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) did in the House and just "say no."

"President Obama has been involved in this in a very forceful way," Senator Schumer said. "It is a smoke screen " to say that the president's bill is different than the House of Representatives' bill.

Bob Schieffer asked how many Republicans he can count on to vote for the bill to which Mr. Schumer said, "I think we will get enough Republicans to pass this, the more the better."

"I would rather have a really good bill that helps our economy get out of this mess with sixty five votes than dilute the bill and get eighty votes," he admitted.

This isnt about a Democrat in the white house. And I didnt mention any history past two weeks ago in my posts. I said Obama isnt leading. His stimulus needs industry involvement to bring jobs back to America. Bush didnt have it and he failed, now Obama is doing the same thing. Only 13% of his plan involves industry. 95% of recovery involves industry.; Reply to this comment

So, you attack me personally because? Personal attacks are often used when intellect isnt available. If Obama is going to succeed he needs real support. Not blind followers with more devisive personal attacks. We had enough of that during the elections.

Since you mention reality, lets start with a little. Any successful economy today includes a strong industry. When is Obama going to meet with industry leaders to ask how to bring jobs back to America? Or does he plan to just bully them into it like Bush might?; Reply to this comment

I know he talks pretty and he has stirred emotions. But we need a leader and he is failing that, FAST. He has begun a divisive administration with more stubborness than Bush. Worse, americas strength comes from its industries and he ignores their help. Nancy Pelosi seems to be his primary spokesperson.

WE NEED A LEADER. HE AINT CUTTIN IT SO FAR.

If you are going to get American economy working again you need cooperation between the people, business, and government. Pandering to the people wont do it. Bigger government wont do it. Bigger business wont do it. a real leader would get all three involved. Wish we had one.

No one is fighting for Bush. Why are the Obama apologists re-hashing the election?

Heres a thought: Bush had an aproval rating of 22%. That means that nearly 80% of the people you talk to disaproved.
