Obama Continues Going Around Washington

But what might be most interesting about the trip was that the motorcade obeyed all traffic lights on the way, according to the pool report.
That's a rarity for the president. As CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports, the president usually blocks traffic in all directions when he gets around town, and the locals hate it.
Yesterday, the president made the trip to the Pentagon in just ten minutes during the height of Washington's rush hour. We're sure a regular motorist would not have made in that kind of time.
In the past week, Mr. Obama has also made trips to the State Department and the Capitol. And there have been indications the new first family wants to visit restaurants and other attractions around Washington from time to time.
As a comparison, President Bush was known to be a homebody inside the White House, and that suited Washingtonians just fine.
It is not yet known if Mr. Obama's trips were just to get acquainted with his new job and his new turf or if they mark the start of what will be a regular routines.
While the rest of the country is watching what happens with the economy and the wars, many in Washington are also wondering what kind of neighbor the Obamas will be.
