Gay Bishop Will Give Invocation At Inaugural Kickoff Event

Evangelical Rev. V. Gene Robinson, whose election as the Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop in 2003 resulted in debate and division in the Episcopal community, will deliver the invocation at an event kicking off inauguration week at the Lincoln Memorial.

President-elect Barack Obama will attend the free, Sunday afternoon event, which will feature musical performances by Bono, Bruce Springsteen and many others.

"The president-elect has respect for the Rt. Rev. Robinson, who offered his advice and counsel over the past couple of years," an inaugural official told Politico. "It also has the benefit of further reinforcing our commitment to an open and inclusive inaugural."

Some gay rights advocates have questioned that commitment in light of the selection of evangelical pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at Mr. Obama's swearing in. Warren backed California Prop. 8, the anti-gay marriage measure whose passage galvanized the gay rights community.

An Obama source denied to Politico that Robinson was brought on to appease angry gay rights activists.

"Robinson was in the plans before the complaints about Rick Warren," the source said. "Many skeptics will read this as a direct reaction to the Warren criticism — but it's just not so."

As to the statement homosexuals where born that way. This is not proven it is a theory and a dangerous one at that, the same theory is used to say murders are born. Sorry but it is a choice. It maybe environmental who knows but it is not a choice.
Fact: Homosexuals can%u2019t breed. If that is a fact then the homosexual gene would not be passed on so there would be less and less of them over time not more and more.
Fact over history homosexuality has shrunk and grown with societies like Rome and modern America today it is at all time high.
Today it is sheik to be homosexual and widely accepted and so we have a very large population.. If this sinful behavior is more and more accepted others sinful behavior will also become accepted like adults sleeping with children, teachers with student and people having *** with animals. And why not if one sin is accepted why not others if we do not stop accepting sins as ok to do as a society we will suffer. You have the right to your opinion and so do I. I may not accept your theories but I do accept you. No matter what you believe you have the right to believe it and you have the right to be loved and you are!!!!

Should the Rev Speak? No! Only because it%u2019s against the very doctrine of the church he stands for. Nor should any Rev that does not ask forgiveness for the sins which he commits. The problem with homosexuality is that they do not see it as a sin and based on that do not feel it requires forgiveness. He can feel anyway he wants but his doctrine teaches it is a sin so no he should not speak. Have him make up a new religion and chat his *** off but just don%u2019t do it under the cap of Christianity it does not fit. OR ask for forgiveness of you sins and ROCK ON!!!

Great post! There are those that claim that homosexuality is not a sin, but they are lying to themselves. Obama is accepting homosexuality by letting a hypocrite give the invocation all at the same time putting his hand on the very book that condems it. I guess that makes him a hypocrtie as well.
