Fitzgerald Wants Extension For Blago Indictment

(AP)
Without an extension, Fitzgerald's deadline for filing an indictment would be Jan. 7th, 30 days from the Dec. 9th arrest. The extension would give the prosecutor until April to file.
Prosecutors said they needed the extra time because "multiple witnesses" have come forward and there are "thousands of intercepted phone calls" to review.
Blagojevich has been accused of trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat for cash or a lucrative job. Some observers have suggested that Fitzgerald's case may not be as strong as one might think.
