Obama rips House "In God we trust" vote

AP

President Obama on Wednesday mocked a vote Tuesday evening in the House of Representatives to reaffirm "In God We Trust" as the nation's motto.

In a waterfront speech in Washington calling on Congress to pass legislation to repair the nation's crumbling infrastructure, the president said Congress should be able to get to the legislation, noting members have "been debating a commemorative coin for baseball" and reaffirming the "In God We Trust" motto.

"That's not putting people back to work," he said. "I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work."

The Republican-led House passed a bill 396-9 to reaffirm the motto on Tuesday night, with sponsor Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) saying it was needed because "there are a number of public officials who forget what the national motto is, whether intentionally or unintentionally."

Forbes said some lawmakers "become confused as to whether or not it can still be placed on our buildings, whether it can be placed in our school classrooms," and specifically cited Mr. Obama, who he complained had suggested the motto is "E Pluribus Unum."

In his comments Wednesday, made near the Key Bridge linking Washington with Virginia, Mr. Obama said Americans support his effort to get Congress to pass the infrastructure improvement legislation, part of his American Jobs Act that was previously blocked by Congressional Republicans.

"This week, they've got another chance to vote for a jobs bill that will help private sector companies put hundreds of thousands of construction workers back on the job rebuilding our roads, our airports, our bridges and our transit systems," he said.

The president specifically referenced House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio and other Republican leaders, saying "I can't imagine that Speaker Boehner wants to represent a state where nearly one in four bridges is classified as substandard."

"When 72 percent of the American people support the ideas in this bill -- 72 percent of Americans agree with this -- Republicans, Democrats and independents -- there's no excuse for 100 percent of Washington Republicans to say no," said the president. "That's means that the Republicans in Washington are out of touch with Republican voters."

At his press briefing Monday, Boehner called on Mr. Obama to pressure Senate Democrats to pass House-passed jobs bills.

"While the president is out doing campaign events all over the country, what he could do is to actually come to Washington and be focused on trying to help pass bills that would create a better environment for job creation and help put the American people back to work," said Boehner.

People seem to forget the cost of war, it has brought the debt up considerbly.. (not to mention those who paid with their lives).
Just like World War II, listen to those who know something about World War II and the economy afterwards.
People are quick to forget or to leave out the good Obama has done. I don't agree with everything Obama is doing or has plans to do.

God is in control of everything........

Expect a landslide victory for Obama in 2012, there is no way any American is going to vote for any Republican except for perhaps Huntsman.

It would appear Obama's "accomplishments" have the intention of bringing the US down. Healthcare reform will do that on it's own, but add in all the other things such as incrementally taking awake cheap clean energy, taking away American competitiveness, etc., and you can clearly see the Marxist movement in action. Follow the money which brought Obama to power, and many signs point to Soros. The MSM is complicit in this as well.

All Obama is doing now is trying to campaign and just like before he tries to hide his horrible records by talking crap about the Republicans. He bashed Bush's debt but more than doubled it in only 2 years. The American people can clearly see that he has done absolutely nothing except put us into the most debt we have ever been in and his stimulus plan did nothing for job creation or the economy. Now he thinks we are so stupid that we will think another stimulus package will do anything. It's like you stick your hand in a dog cage and get bit are you going to stick it back in again? No. Obama even borrowed tons of money just to give it to Egypt, Brazil, and Africa leaving the American taxpayers to cover the debt.Oh, and SLOPPYJOE, the first bailout was NOT Bush's. It happened as Bush was leaving office and it was created by a DemoRATic majority congress that was already working with Obama and they were going to push it through anyway. See, that is so typical of DemoRATs, they do things then when those things don't work, they blame them on the Republicans. Just like the war in Iraq. MANY, MANY DemoRATS agreed with going to Iraq, and they even were some of the ones saying there were WMDs. When they didn't find any the Dems stood back and said it was all Bush's and the Republican's fault. Bottom line is Obama is the worst president ever. He has the worst record and has done nothing.

Alamanach says:
The irony in all this is that if Obama had a little more trust in God, there would probably be a lot more job creation going on-- certainly more than the government would be able to do. Markets are not controlled by people, and it's markets that create jobs, not governments. Let go, put some trust in God, and let the economy put itself back together. All that the government needs to do (where the economy is concerned) is enforce justice. No other intervention is needed. Believe it or not, God did actually build a world that humans can thrive in. Have a little trust that the world God built works.

It's obvious (from the link) and from Obama's actions that he has an aversion to references to God. It seems Obama is in a hurry to get his hands on more of our money to buy some badly needed votes. The last stimulus was payback, this "jobs bill" will be his campaign funds.

The President is absolutely correct. He stated that the House is wasting time voting on baseball coins and reaffirming a motto that was never under threat of being changed. That is not "mocking". That is pointing out that they are wasting time while Americans are suffering. I'm getting sick and tired of misleading articles. The words "mocking" and "rips" do not in any way fit the President's comments.
