Sarah Palin says criticism of Hank Williams Jr. is "disgusting"

Country music star Hank Williams Jr. is the victim of double standard after being dumped by ESPN for comparing President Obama to Hitler, Fox News analyst Sarah Palin said Thursday.

"Hank Williams and what he is going through now, I think it's a very clear illustration of a greater societal problem and that is the hypocrisy on the left -- the liberals who can throw these stones at a conservative and they knowing that they're not going to be held accountable," Palin told Fox colleague Sean Hannity on his radio show Thursday.

Williams, the son of country music legend Hank Williams who died in 1953, was the voice behind ESPN's Monday Night Football opening song which included the words "are you ready for some football?" for decades.

The network pulled the intro, "All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight," for Monday night's game after Williams went on Fox earlier that day and compared Mr. Obama to the Nazi dictator responsible for the death of six million Jews.

The 62-year-old country singer-songwriter issued a statement Monday night insisting his remarks were misunderstood, then apologized Tuesday.

Palin said conservatives are constantly worried that they may be criticized for saying something inappropriate and liberals do not have that same worry.

"It's a one way street and we're always walking on eggshells, aren't we?" the former Alaska governor told Hannity, "you know, like, oh geez, if I say that is somebody going to misinterpret it or spin it as something that is quote unquote racist or sexist or anything else? But the other side ... they can say whatever they want and nobody calls them out on it. I think it's pretty disgusting."

Sarah is Sarah. She loves the camera and it loves her. She's not running so the Sarah and Michelle Bachman ticket for Pres and VP can't be. We could have had a woman in the White House for 4 years. Sarah could have did her 2 years and then Michelle could have taken over for the next 2 years. I am only kidding, that would be a disaster for the country.

The comments I read here are disgusting. I will never understand your hatred toward another human being such as this. Sarah Palin is certainly not my favorite political figure and you all would like her and her husband and 'cabbage patch' kid to be shipped back to Alaska "third class". Why, because she is a white woman who was a conservative republican running for VP and she has a voice? It's crazy that you all want to silence Sarah Palin because she is not 'relevent'. If that's the case why don't you also call to silence all the hideous Hollywood big mouths that the libs fawn over...and how about shutting up Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They couldn't be any more divisive, disgusting, or irrelevent if they tried. Let's see you attack them the next time they open their big mouths and call someone racist for saying 'black cloud'.

The only thing worse than being stupid is being stupid with a loud mouth: == Sarah Palin.

By now, given her proven track record, why would Fox News find Sarah Palin to be relevant.

She isn't relevant. That's why they want her.

Hank Williams Jr. is pretty "disgusting" all on his own. I remember seeing him one year on the CMA's, with a rock of cocaine hanging out of his nose. To cast him as some kind of persecuted voice of mainstream America is ridiculous. He's a deluded bigot.

All you have to do is watch Fox news for 5 minutes to hear some twists and outright lies concerning the left.

Sarah is correct. Taking anyone's words out of context and spinning them is disgusting. She should know, the media do it to her all the time. All of you taking cheap potshots at her in these comments are simply echoing the slander you've heard in the mainstream media.
