Ron Paul launches $1M TV ad push

After a successful Internet fundraising drive over the weekend, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Thursday will launch a new ad aimed at military veterans in key primary states.

In a statement, his campaign said the ad is the first in a "$1 million television push" over the next few weeks" on broadcast and cable in New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada, Florida and South Carolina.

The 60-second spot, titled "A Veteran's Best Friend," highlights Paul's military service as a surgeon and features two Vietnam War veterans' praising him.

"It takes a veteran to understand a veteran and he is a veteran himself," one of them says. Among the Republican candidates for the presidential nomination, Paul has been the harshest critic of American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, putting him at odds with many military families.

Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton said, "Our campaign is seeing growing momentum now and is doing this ad blitz to cement ourselves in the top tier." Ron Paul finished third in a recent USA Today/Gallup poll of Republican presidential nomination preferences behind Perry and Romney.

The ad with air during Thursday night's GOP debate in Florida.

At odds with many military families for wanting to bring their family members home in one piece? That's absurd! He has stronger support from active duty military personnel and their immediate families than all other candidates combined.

We see that, you know. A mostly factual article but subtly tinged to imply that he is at odds with military and that this ad is an attempt to "make up" to them somehow?

"Paul has been the harshest critic of American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, putting him at odds with many military families."

How many? And how does the concern for the lives of these men and women who are fighting an unjust and unnecessary war over there put him at odds with their families. Is the author suggesting that the families want them to stay over there longer? Is it true they want to have the lives of their sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters in jeopardy for one moment longer than necessary? This is preposterous and a fine example of how generally the media tries to smear this message of liberty every day.

It's subtle and they hope that only the subconscious of undecided people catches it. Be aware and do your due diligence on all of the candidates.

* Ron Paul polls consistently in a dead heat with President Obama (Rasmussen, Gallup, CNN)
* Ron Paul consistently places in the top three in major Republican Primary polls;
* Ron Paul is number two in fundraising and number one for individual donations;
* Ron Paul has more military donations than all other GOP candidates combined and President Obama;
* Ron Paul is a twelve-term Congressman and has spent his entire career defending the Constitution;
* Ron Paul is the only candidate to accurately predict the housing bubble, economic crises and the devaluation of the dollar.

Rodney, it's worth noting that Ron Paul has received nearly 75% of ALL of the donations from active duty military so far this election cycle. The troops support Ron Paul because they know that he'll bring them home from all of these foreign entanglements and use them to defend our country wisely, rather than use them as global chess pieces.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who has for years, consistently fought on the hill to stop these insane wars! He does not pander and he doesn't lie (like some we know who run on "I'll end the war" and then when elected - do the opposite) HE IS NOT AT ODDS WITH MILITARY FAMILIES! In fact, he receives more contributions from military members (active and retired) than ALL OTHER CANDIDATES COMBINED (including Obama!)
