Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is traveling this week, and again next week, to the critical primary state of New Hampshire. But in between stops in the Granite State, he's taking his campaign somewhere a little less critical -- Hawaii.

The latest release of Gingrich's publicly scheduled campaign events shows that the former House speaker will be a guest on a talk radio show broadcasting out of New London, New Hampshire today. Later in the day, Gingrich and his wife Callista Gingrich will travel west to a screening of their documentary "A City Upon a Hill" at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library, in Yorba Linda, Calif.

After attending more campaign events in California, Gingrich next travels to Wailuku, Hawaii, where he and the Maui Republican Party will meet with local activists at a church on Saturday. His next public event is at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, when he'll discuss the American founding with students at a prep school in Makawao, also on the island of Maui.

Gingrich travels back to the mainland on Tuesday, makes a stop in Washington on Wednesday and heads back to New Hampshire on Thursday.

The detour to Hawaii comes amid questions of how committed Gingrich is to his presidential campaign. Key members of his staff, including his campaign manager, resigned in June after Gingrich took a break from campaigning to go on a Greek cruise with his wife.

Gingrich's spokesman declined to comment to Hotsheet on the observation from Politico that the Hawaii campaign stop coincides with the Gingriches' eleventh wedding anniversary, which is tomorrow.

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to
operate on. The first surgeon, from New York, says, "I like to see
accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything
inside is numbered."

The second, from Chicago, responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians!
Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon, from Dallas, says, "No, I really think librarians are
the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order"

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: "You know, I like
construction workers... Those guys always understand when you have a few
parts left over."

But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC , shut them all up when he
observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on.
There's no guts, no heart, no testicles, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the head
and the butt are interchangeable. And as Paul Harvey says now you know the story and my thoughts on politicians

Neut Gingrich may as well enjoy the lavish trip on his Political paid vacation.. hes got less chance than Paylin does joining the Democratic primary for him to be elected as Commander in chief of the nation.

"I'm not gonna get elected for a dog catcher let alone the presidiency, so I might as well spend the fools money "wisely"." What a maroon.

The mental picture of Newt in a bathing suit on Waikaki Beach might be even more scary than him in the White House. Hopefully neither will happen.

Let's see if President Obama tries to follow him in that big bus.

The President is busy trying to lead the recovery from 11 years of anti American GOP economic terrorism, but Piper might pimp up some donations for the "vacation" bus.

Newt is a brilliant intellectual with plenty of quality Washington experience, very articulate, presidential in appearance and to top it off he's a conservative. It all looks great on paper but unfortunately he just doesn't take campaigning very seriously. He's the only guy I know who takes as many vacations as Obama -- who happens to be a serious campaigner. Obama may be the wrong guy for a bunch of reasons but at least he works hard and stays focused between vacations. Perhaps newt's problem has to do with his wife. I understand that she pretty mush dictates his schedule. Now, if it comes out that Newt is actually going to Hawaii in search of evidence that Obama was actually born in Kenya, as many of us suspect, then I'll retract my earlier statement about his seriousness and pledge my support.

Were there any survivors, besides yourself, when your planet exploded?????????

I love the "as many of us suspect" line. Seeing as most every other horse crossed the line on that one, I hope you finally make it across before the winter. It's cold standing out there by yourself.

I am outraged -- absolutely frothing starkers about Mr. Gingrich sashaying his way around Hawaii on a vacation ordered by his wife, when he should be home working on a GOP plan to rescue the economy and put Americans back to work. How dare he even think about leisure during this national emergency while we are fighting two wars, paying billions to profiteering banks, underwriting giant SUVs to clog our highways, and still trying to figure out a national budget for next year! This is a total outrage and is grounds for impeachment -- except Mr. Gingrich doesn't seem to hold any office, so I guess the only thing left is to unvote him from holding future office. Almost as outrageous as a vacation in Greece.
