In new campaign ad, RNC tells America it's time to "change direction"

The Republican National Committee is using one of President Obama's favorite metaphors for the economy--a car driven into a ditch--and throwing it back at him.

A new ad released Wednesday accuses Mr. Obama of directing the country on "left turn after left turn" and urges Americans not to "let Obama drive us to disaster."

Invoking an (albeit low-fi) action movie metaphor, the ad - which features speeding motorcycles, derailed trains, and cars both exploding and flying off cliffs - dramatically intones that "America's headed the wrong way fast" - and that it's time to "change direction."

(Watch the ad above.)

Leading up to the 2010 elections, Mr. Obama repeatedly said the Republicans drove the economy into a ditch and were standing around barking orders at Democrats who were trying to get it out of the ditch. Mr. Obama said Republicans wanted the keys back but he would not hand them over.

According to the RNC, the 30-second spot, entitled "Change Direction," will air for the next four weeks online and some national cable news channels.

"The RNC intends to challenge Barack Obama in every state on his failed economic leadership right up until Election Day," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, "Republicans have already changed the conversation in Washington, but with the president unwilling to remove the country from its unsustainable course, it's time to change direction."

On the ad's page on the RNC website, viewers are urged to make donations "to fight back against the left-wing spin machine."

The Republicans are "launching" attacks on President Obama. They started doing that the day after his election in 2008. It's clear to many of us that the Republicans have been intent of making President Obama a one term president no matter what the cost. Partisan politics are a much higher priority for the Republicans than doing whats best for the country.

The Democrats will be launching their nasty attack ads soon too! You can count on it! The Republicans just struck the first blow that's all!

And another thing, we DO care about doing what's best for the country! That's why we want Obama to be a one term president! He's fast turning the country into a third world country!

Oh for goodness sakes, Republicans have launched their nasty attacks as soon as they knew the results of the Presidential election in 2008. Do you really expect that Democrats will not say anything about any Republican? I mean that doesn't even make sense. You people seem to think Republicans can say whatever they want about the President, his wife, Democrats, and anyone else that doesn't bow to the alter of Rush Limbaugh but heaven forbid if they respond if kind to Republican BS.

Oh, don't delude yourself. You people could care less about what is best for our country. Your Republican leaders have made it clear that the only thing Republicans care about is destroying President Obama. If our country suffers, so be it. That is the price we have to pay for the American people having the nerve to elect Barack Hussein Obama as Prewsident of the United States of America. Republicans have spent the past three years delivering that message loud and clear to the entire world.

Funniest part is that the RNC, heavily in debt after 2010, is paying for the campaign by BORROWING money.

OK, just slightly hypocritical....yet: Hey RNC don't fix your revenue problem; rather cut RNC spending.

LOL.

I thought we did change direction why else would we elect a black president after 8 years of Bush/Cheney? Horrible fiscal policy, endless wars with no real outcome, Lets face it the republicans drove us into the ground with breaks for millionaires,Big Oil and corporations like G.E. not having to pay taxes. Patriot act, lies to get us into Iraq etc. Sure its great to elect a republican if you are the filthy rich but the working man and middle class get no representation by the republican party. It will take a decade to undo the mess left by Bush/Cheney.

Back to prosperity. If we can get a real fiscal conservative in office we'll be doing much much better.
