Ex-Secret Service agent Daniel Bongino jumps into Maryland Senate race against Cardin
Daniel Bongino
/ www.bongino.comA former Secret Service agent who has provided protection for President Obama has decided to make a bid for Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin's job.
Daniel Bongino, who resigned from the agency last month, plans to seek the Republican nomination to challenge the freshman Democrat.
The Secret Service traditionally does not look favorably upon former agents who jump into politics and has fought to make sure agents who protect the president are not compelled to testify on conversations they might have overheard to maintain trust, National Journal reports.
Bongino's campaign biography says he worked as an agent for a dozen years after serving in the New York City Police Department.
Bongino "believes in real answers and straight talk and plans to challenge the political establishment directly on the important issues of the day," according to his campaign website.
Former Republican candidate for Maryland Governor Brian Murphy is Bongino's campaign chairman.

Let me put this out there, I have a G.E.D. I also own my own company that profited a little over 200K last year. My company employ's twelve people and pays enough to support their families.
Now let me start on a few comments you have made. "GED (Good Enough Degree)" how about I start here. I am sure you meant "Diploma". The reason I mention this is because colleges do not award G.E.D's to people, local school districts do.
Next your comment on June 1st 2011 11:40 AM (I listed the time stamp so you could find the correct one) started with "How Does a Secret Service agent". The word "agent" would also be capitalized as it is apart of a title. That one is just a freebie. If I am going to go on a tirade about a sitting President, I am dang sure to look closer at my grammar.
Finally, I am just trying to help you look a little less ignorant. So here is my last point I will make. Just because you are angry it should not be your goal to anger others. It only takes away from anything you might be able to add and also shows that you have no clue what you are talking about (stupid. Now I am no fan of the current administration, but you need to better understand the current problem before chiming in.
Not all of your comments are without merit; it is just no one cares. You have shown that you are here (www.cbsnews.com) to attempt to change the mood from one of open communication to the lowest common denominator. No one is falling for your anger and angst. Remember Ignorance I can cure, stupid is forever. I hope you have a long life. I wish you better days moving forward. I hope you find someone to help you understand your anger and you learn how to overcome it.
Second, titles are not capitalized when they are used as common nouns, or instead of a name, anyway. So as long as we're being picky about capitalization, your capitalization of "president" in the fourth paragraph is wrong.
Third, grammar and capitalization are too different things, so you were again wrong to call him out on the former when you meant the latter (and again, were wrong there too).
Fourth, it's "employs," not "employ's." You don't use an apostrophe for simple present tense verbs.
Fourth, your post is full of run-on sentences. Unlike imaginary capitalization errors, this is a matter of grammar.
Sixth, the poster you're cricizing is obviously talking about "cowboy" Bush. Bush is not a sitting president.
I think they need to tighten up the standards for GED's in whatever hillbilly area you receieved yours.
