Trump: How did Obama get into the Ivy League?

Donald Trump on Monday suggested he had broadened the scope of his investigation regarding President Obama's background, arguing that - in addition to making inquiries into Mr. Obama's citizenship - he was "looking into" the president's college career.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Trump alleged that Mr. Obama had been "a terrible student," and wondered how he could have been accepted to prestigious schools like Columbia and Harvard Universities.

"I heard he was a terrible student, terrible," Trump told the AP. "How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard? I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records."

Mr. Obama received an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in 1983. (He transferred from Occidental College in 1981.) He then got his Juris doctorate from Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1991.

Trump provided no evidence of Mr. Obama's "terrible" marks, but did offer the fact that "I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can't get into Harvard."

"We don't know a thing about this guy," Trump said. "There are a lot of questions that are unanswered about our president."

Commentary: Trump takes another shot at Obama

Trump, who says he is seriously considering a bid for the GOP presidential nomination, has made waves in recent weeks by reviving the thoroughly-debunked "birther" claim that Mr. Obama was not born in the United States.

The business magnate has also stepped up criticism of Democrats on policy-related issues.

In a video recently posted to his YouTube page, Trump accused Democrats of attempting to lead Republicans "into a trap" in regard to certain entitlement programs.

"Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security must be saved," said Trump, in one of his weekly video chats. "The Republicans cannot be led into a trap by the Democrats, and that's what happening. They must be saved....We must take care of our senior citizens, we can't let anything happen, anything, negative to our senior citizens. Medicare we have to take care of you."

Simple, like a lot of the rich do, they buy their way in ...just as Trump has wasted (no telling how much money) trying to prove he is right... so, he can make Obama look bad...What's the point? do some good Mr. Trump, we all have "friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can't get into Harvard." and money is their problem... so, give all that wasted money that you're trying to make a point with and send a few hundred kids to school...

Donald Trump is nothing more than an egomaniac.... a narcissistic bag of wind who will say and do anything to get attention. He's using this platform to tell us how "great and wonderful" he is to feed his ego. In reality, he's like an arrogant, ignorant, childish school yard bully who thinks his money gives him the right to kick sand in anyone's face. It's a shame money cannot buy intelligence, dignity, class, and the ability or inclination to tell the truth.

The bottom line in all this Trump/birther nonsense is simply their unbridled hatred for the President. They all want to erase him from history. They refuse to accept his legitimacy as a citizen of the United States, his legitimacy as our President, or even as human being.

All this garbage demonstrates just how desperate the GOP has become overall. They KNOW that not ONE of their potential candidates can defeat President Obama, so they will try to have him removed from office by any means, at any cost.

This is what the GOP has become. That's the dirty politics they will play; however, I think the harder they try to defame the President, the harder they are going to fall in 2012. They are so logic challenged apparently they cannot even see their impending implosion

This is jealousy and racism. Donald Trump cannot stand the fact that a black man did better in school and in life. If I were a higher up at his college(s) I would seriously investigate how Trump achieved his grades. Listening to him speak on his show and in speeches he has given, there is no doubt that he did not do the work himself in college.

Academic credentials not being a requirement, what difference does it make? Is this some sort of a race to the bottom, to see who can out-do whom in terms of making major issues of things that do not matter?

It's over. Let's move on, shall we?
