White House: No comment on ATF gun-walking controversy
White House press secretary Jay Carney did not shed any light Monday on the allegations uncovered by CBS News that ATF intentionally let thousands of assault rifles and other weapons fall into the hands of Mexico's drug cartels. Insiders call the controversial practice letting guns "walk."
In the wake of our CBS News investigation, Mexico has asked the U.S. for more information. Two AK-47 type variant assault rifles that ATF allegedly let "walk" were found at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry last December. Here's the excerpt from today's White House briefing:
CBS News chief White House correspondent Chip Reid: "Do you have any comment on the story and on these developments today?"
Carney: "I don't. Obviously, as the president pointed out when he spoke here with President Calderon, we take the issue of the flow of guns south very seriously, as we do the issue of the flow of drugs north. And -- but beyond that, I don't have any comment."
Reid: "Is he aware of this specific allegation..."
Carney: "I don't know."
Reid: "... that hundreds of guns went into Mexico with the knowledge of ATF?"
Carney: "I don't know."

Now Mexico is going to create operation "slow but happy" in which Mexico's President, Felipe Calderon will allow the US to get inundated with pot, cocaine, heroine and all kinds of drugs that many americans have a sweet tooth for. All this is solely with the intention of tracking the drugs and to find the location of the distribution centers all across the US.
In the end if the mission fails, M?xico will apologize by saying "We are really sorry to have allowed the US to get inundated with all these drugs. Our plan failed, but you have to understand that we just wanted to help" Hugs and Kisses!
As I said in a comment to a previous news article, it is a little-known fact that something similar happened under the Clinton Administration, where a gun-buying sting operation was compromised and hundreds of full-automatic AK 47's were "released" out on the streets. A high-ranking Chinese Army officer was involved in a scheme to smuggle full-auto (not semi-auto military look-alike) AK 47 assault rifles into the U.S. A sting operation was organized, where the FBI sent an agent to pose as a buyer for the weapons and make arrests. However, somehow (probably by design, not by accident on the part of the Clinton Administration) the agent's cover was compromised and the guns ended up getting sold on the street. It was probably planned so by Clinton to drum up support for a ban on semi-automatic firearms.
Don't tell me the the cartels are buying up RPG's, hand grenades and full-automatic assault rifles and smuggling them across the border! Those weapons are not legal or readily available in the U.S. anyway. And what would they want with "semi-automatics" when they can get their hands on full-automatic firearms from other sources?
I believe the Obama Administration will try to all this stuff about this "ATF gun-walking controversy" to try to drum up support for another assault weapon ban. The liberals and "communists" in our government use lies and falsehoods to further their anti-gun agenda.
The Mexican government, which has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world, can't even control crime on its side of the border. If gun laws worked, how did the Irish Republican Army get all the weaponry it had? Where does the FARC get its weaponry? Ireland and Columbia don't have a United States border to blame. The fact of the matter is, the bad guys will arm themselves with or without gun control laws.
I say to President Calderon, relax your own gun laws and let the citizens protect themselves from the criminal element!
Now it is Obama and the ATF who are facilitating the transfers. WOW. I guess if you create the crisis you can take advantage of the situation to meet your agenda.
ATF would arrest and prosecute a gun dealer who did this (and most would support prosecuting illegal acts). Will the head of the ATF who is unconfirmed by the Senate and Obama be presecuted.... you know they have the "right to remain silent".
Eric Holder and Barack Obama have blood on their hands.
"No comment" is all they can come up with?
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
No more blood than George Bush and Dick Cheney. I wonder though, would you be happy if this President came out and said yes he sent guns to Mexico and would do it again. I mean the way George Bush proudly claimed that he lied about torture and he did in fact condone torture and would do it again?
I mean my goodness you people whine, bi!ch and moan over any perceived opportunity to vilify the President. You people don't even have a clue as to what happened but somehow you all have decided if it is something wrong it is all about President Obama and lets throw Eric Holder into the mix. And you do this all the while ignoring all the known transgressions of previous Republican Presidents. You people are not creditable. You people are absolute hypocrites. You people are so pathetic in your hate for a person who is just trying to do what is best for this country. You all need to get over yourselves.
Of course there are no "known transgressions of previous Democratic Presidents," are there?
How about we stay on topic and leave the ad hominem insults out of it, mmmkay?
Did you think the Reagan administration waited to comment because they had to get the spin going... or they were doing a thorough investigation before commenting?
Why do some of you folks choose to forget every other POTUS, just because you are so ticked off we have the one we do now?
It's either partisan based accusation or bigotry.
Why not, he feels the need to comment on issues that are none of his business, but when his own ATF is found to be supplying weapons to Mexico, like the Iran Contra , now we have no comment......how about this, "they acted stupidly" how about that comment for starters ?
Intelligent people learn from their mistakes.

But 0bammer keeps looking for new ways to spend us into bankrutpcy, and for new ways to let armed insurgents into the country through our Southern border. A monkey in a silk suit.....
My guess is that the Obama administration, like many before it (remember Reagan and Iran-Contra, they didn't respond immediately, but allowed an investigation to begin first...) is not going to speak out on this serious situation until the agents and their bosses can be thoroughly interviewed.
When people adamantly don't like the sitting POTUS (again, whomever that is or was), they seem to think all errors belong to him alone and all success couldn't possibly be because of his policies.
This is not the end of this story, broken by CBS.
BTW I believe this is older than the Obama administration.
