Ann Coulter Wants "More Jailed Journalists" (VIDEO)

During a question and answer session at the Conservative Political Action conference Saturday, conservative commentator Ann Coulter was asked what is more important to America's values: maintaining a strong relationship with Israel or "knowing there are jailed dissidents and journalists."

"What do you mean, 'knowing that there are jailed journalists?'" Coulter answered. "I think there should be more jailed journalists."

Coulter received a raucous round of applause from the audience for her response.

The comments were sparked by a question about why Coulter and other Republicans advocate for free elections in Iraq but warn against them in Egypt.

Coulter, echoing John Bolton, said that pre-revolution Egypt was an ally of the United States and "you don't go around disturbing countries where you have a loyal ally."

Really, Ann? I think there should be more jailed sycophantic politicians and tobacco executives. Someone needs to drop-kick your hateful ass into the middle of Taliban territory and see how many nano-seconds it takes to change what passes for your mind when no one's there to hear you scream, much less report it. Why don't you condescend to coming off your princess pedestal, strap on a pair of combat boots and interview some of the women and girls in the Afghan women's shelters their so-called government - the one for which we're sacrificing our sons and daughters and going broke to prop up - is legislating out of business. If there's anything left of you after, go get yourself a real job - one that doesn't involve speaking out on behalf of a dicktator who serves your interests and whose hobbies include repression of independent thought, torture and murder. This country owes its existence to journalists, e.g., Ben Franklin - ever heard of him? It's too bad we have to suffer your indignity in the name of the freedom of speech for which so many continue to bleed and die and which you take for granted. Someone needs to circumcise your mouth, although I doubt even a highly-trained medical professional could discern it from that from which you habitually speak.

jailed dissidents and reporters? I assume she is only talking about liberals. She is advocating a dictatorship in a country known for freedom of speech. Of course, she counts on that freedom of speech as she sdvocates hatred and division. Because I believe in free speech, I will defend her right to say whatever she wants, but I don't have to agree with her.

myth1958 says:
The daunting skeleton-esque Coulter talks contradictorily about impinging on a free press ("I think more of them should be jailed") as well as democracy in Egypt. This frizzled war horse from the Right isn't afraid to denigrate the President or his policies while claiming to be an active patriot: why does she feel it's ok to pick and choose from the rights we enjoy in our Constitution? Either we believe in democracy, free speech and a free press, or we're China, babycakes. You can't swell up about an emerging democracy in Iraq, yet be against it in Egypt. You can't manipulate and bask in the media one day - every day, really - and call for reporters to be jailed the next because you don't agree with them. Coulter is out of kilter with what democracy means, and ought to go back to the library and read up on it.

This is what, to people with an IQ above 80 who are not limited to literal intrepreations, is called a joke. It's what Ann Coulter does for a living...she tells jokes...albiet with a point...and people laugh. Of course, people on the Left would never understand that, since their principle political pundits, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher or Steven Colbert would never try to tell a joke regarding politics, would they?

Oh it's plenty clear she is making an attempt at humor. But there is a difference between making a joke and being one. That nuance seems have escaped you. You can always ask Beck's former advertisers to clarify.

This so called joke is, like all of her other mean spirited jokes, just not funny. It's like little kids who laugh when a bully is beating another kid, not funny.

Satan is alive and well inside Ann Coulter. That's not a human being we're seeing. She's Palin's demonic twin.
