William M. Daley Contender for Chief of Staff
William Daley during a press conference in Nashville, Tenn., in this Nov. 8, 2000, file photo.
/ APHe met with President Obama in December and spoke with him on the phone at least once more last month.
Mr. Obama has considered several candidates in total. The only other leading candidate is interim chief of staff Pete Rouse who doesn't really want the job.
Why Daley? A Democrat briefed by the White House Monday night says that Mr. Obama figures that because adding jobs to the economy is his top priority, he needs someone with close ties to the American business community and recognizes that no one advising him now really commands the respect that Daley would.
Mr. Obama picked Rahm Emanuel in part because of Emanuel's congressional know-how. Because Republicans in Congress won't help the president much, Mr. Obama doesn't need a chief of staff who can finesse that branch of government.

- Why not! We had leg breaker Rhom, now a Daley! Basically the chicago Mob family. If Obama is so good, why is he associated with these Chicago creeps? Is it that this adinistration is so corrupt that it cannot have a normal type person on staff?

- Whether Republican or Democrat they always go to those whose greed created this mess in the first place. They are not expert businessmen their only expertise is in GREED! That is their one singular expertise and yet both parties play the fool and go to the same source every time. Who do they always please? - the greedy bankers and CEOs who have ripped everyone off with their sorceries. Who gets left with the bill and their bailout and no jobs - you and I the working public. It appears there is no longer any honor in being a worker any more - instead you are considered a piece-part or a tool of labor that is costly and needs to be controlled or outsourced if not fully contained. Our leaders have become political hackies whose singular concern is being re-elected so the greedy can get richer off the backs of the workers (the slave labor force of the rich elites). this has to end here and now! God will no longer tolerate the greed of the rich and their political hackies over the backs of the workers. Read Revelations chapter 18 to see who the Harlot is and why heaven rejoicies at her fall. God will not allow this horric robbery of the wealthy of this nation to continue to be handed over by robbery to the insanely rich and greedy.

- When will both "D" and "R" stop using Wall Street bankers as their staffers or experts. These are the same greedy SOBs that got us in financial mess and continue to keep us in this depression quaqmire. Rep. Issa goes to business to seek "what they want to fix things". Who goes to the public the worker and asks what they need or how they see things??? -No one - we are always left out of the equation. We are run by oligarchies and their henchmen and revolution is in the air.

- Come on Barry. The last thing we need are more old, bald, white millionaires making economic decisions in your administration. Get some mew blood with new ideas.

- This is a better choice than the communist and socialist party members Obama has engaged in the past. Maybe he is serious about his new years resolution to help the economy!
