Andrew Shirvell Fired After Harassment Charges

Andrew Shirvell, the Michigan assistant state attorney general who made headlines for his criticism of openly gay University of Michigan student body President Chris Armstrong, has been fired.

Shirvell was fired in part for using state resources in his campaign against Armstrong, which included a blog in which he cast the student as a racist liar pushing a "radical homosexual agenda."

AnnArbor.com reports that Attorney General Mike Cox said in a statement Shirvell was let go for "conduct unbecoming a state employee, especially that of an assistant attorney general."

Cox added that an investigation showed that Shirvell "repeatedly violated office policies, engaged in borderline stalking behavior, and inappropriately used state resources." He had previously been suspended.

Shirvell defended his actions on television programs, arguing that he was exercising his free speech as a private citizen and not acting in an official capacity.

The investigation reportedly found that Shirvell showed up at Armstrong's home on three separate occasions, including once at 1:30 am, and harassed and tried to expose Armstrong's friends as gay. Additionally, Shirvell reportedly took some of his actions against Armstrong, including posting to his blog, during the workday. He was also accused of repeatedly lying to investigators.

Philip Thomas, Shirvell's attorney, said the firing "has a political aroma to me."

"I think my client is a victim of the liberal media piling on," he added.

"Cox did nothing".
Isn't that the truth! Check the complaints filed with Mike regarding Judge Patricia Gardner of the Kent County Family Court System.....refused to deal with the "Illegal Rulings" and "Corruption"!

Mike was to busy with the Kwame Party!

The hatred emanating from this man is palpable. I can feel it from here. I'm glad he lost his job, as he well should have. He cannot be an advocate of justice for all when he has this much hatred for a college student. Does he think the young man, by being student body president, is going to somehow convert all the students at the University of Michigan to become gay or something? I mean really! Standing outside the young mans home at 1:30 AM. Video taping his friends and visitors? Methinks the man doth protest too much! Perhaps he is afraid to look too deeply inside himself or is afraid of what he finds?

How can an assistant AG claim 1st amendment rights allow him to stalk a person, let alone stalk him because of sexual orientation. As asst' AG , he must recognize this could be criminal behavior. This guy is a whack job, big time. He borught all this on himself. Liberal media has nothing to do with his behavior.

His is not an elected position, and the fact that he is a member of a conservative Church makes it hard imagine he is a democrat.

I am increasingly tired of the conservative victimology and myth of a liberal (yet corporate) medaia.

Highly doubtful he is a Dem. In any case, the AG office should not be political.Didn't we learn anything when Karl Rove had those US Attorneys fired for not being conservative enough?

ABOUT TIME! He engaged in criminal harassment and stalking of an innocent student all the while he was on the state's payroll! Shame on Andre Shirvell, Mike Cox and anyone else who allowed this disturbed man to use his office to hurt another person.

They forgot to take the "Top Dog" Michael Cox along with him!

The "Dynamic Duo" have done nothing to fight "Family Court Corruption" and prejudice in the Kent County, MI.
