According to a permit reported by the Christian Science Monitor, the tentative schedule for Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert's "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on Saturday includes musical acts like the Roots, Sheryl Crow and gospel singer Mavis Staples and actor Sam Waterston, best known from the show "Law & Order."

Not present on the schedule, however, are any political figures.

Stewart has insisted that the event is not political, but the Democratic National Committee is among the groups organizing events in conjunction with the rally.

Comedy Central has yet to release a schedule publicly for the event, but the plan it released to the National Park Service revealed the tentative schedule.

Here's a look at the schedule, via the Monitor. Note that additional guests are planned:

10:00 a.m.: The pre-pre-show begins with videos and music on a jumbotron

Noon: The pre-show starts with a performance from The Roots.

12:40: A comedian (to be determined) warms up the audience.

12:57: A video countdown with a show introduction.

1:00: The show kicks off with the national anthem by a musical guest (to be announced).

1:05: Jon Stewart welcomes the crowd

1:20: Mr. Colbert enters, and two actors - Don Novello and Sam Waterston - perform readings.

1:40: Jeff Tweedy and Mavis Staples perform for 10 minutes, followed by Stewart and Colbert until 2 p.m.

2:15: Sheryl Crow performs for five minutes, followed by speakers and guests (to be determined).

2:30: Musical guests (also still being lined up) come on.

2:40: The show turns to a pre-taped sequence - The Sanity and Fear Awards.

It's unclear how many people are expected to attend the rally, which takes place the weekend before the midterm elections. President Obama lauded the concept of "restoring sanity" recently, and he appeared on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show on Wednesday.

The rally is also serving as a fundraiser for the Trust for the National Mall, which is dedicated to restoring and improving the Mall.

Comedians come in to help the bigest joke of all, President Obama and his democratic machine of higher taxes, and bigger government. Just what people need that can't do a thing on their own.

I think some of you are missing the point... rude comments about republicans don't fit the agenda EITHER.. Stewart is calling for civility. It's ok to be funny and poke fun but the nasty name calling is what he is against on both sides. If you think it's going to be a republican hate fest stay home you will be disappointed.

chevyhotrod, Faux News' ratings are good, but don't fool yourself, they aren't that good. By the way, Univision either is or is soon going to be the top network.

It absolutely STINKS that the Democrats have decided to try and hijack this rally and turn it into a Democratic Rally.

Booo Democrats. Its an obvious act of INSANITY

Keep the theme of the rally, boo and hiss and shout down any all people who try to turn it into a rally for their party.

Stewbert says its rally isn't political and I hope that is true because if Stewb DOES intend to aid Democrats electorally this whole circle-jerk is comically ill-timed. It should have been last week at least or concurrent with the commie/union rally the weekend before. As it is, if there is any serious attendance at all it will be taking thousands of MoveOners and OfAers out of the game in the home stretch. These are the draft-horses of the GOTV drives, the phone answerers and dispensers of cigarettes, cash and booze that are ever the sinew of the Democrats' aspirations. Of course a genius like Stewbert knows this, it's just he didn't know Beck's rally would be so large as to demand response in kind so it blew up the scheduling, including the port-o-lets. Oh that's right, the Stewbert Jamboree is NOT in response to Beck or anything else. Just like it is NOT political. Not in the least.

There you go again! You guys have to lighten up. There is no greater source of comedy material than politics. Look at our history, Ford falling down stairs, Daddy Bush chucks his lunch on Japans PM, Clinton didn't have sex with that woman, Sarah can't remember reading a news paper, O'Donnell keeps a broom in the closet, and W. Bush well, we could go on forever. That guy kept a lot of good people in stitches. The Appalachian trail will never just be a long hike again. So come on you guys, there must be some humor in your hateful hearts.

Sanity for the majority and Fear for the extremist. How could anything be more "fair and balanced" than that. For 90% of those attending the rally it will be a fun event fulfilling their expectations of making fun of the 10% who need to be driven by Fear (or FoxNews). I hear that Joe Miller is going to kill a polar bear in honor of the event. Christine O'Donnell will be there representing the Delaware coven and look out boy's she is a single lady getting ready to deny a juicy one nighter. You know how the faith and values people are, against masturbation on one hand and doing it with the other. Of course, Rand Pauls people will be there looking to get a few kicks in as well. After all, a party is a party even if it doesn't have a "Tea" in it.
