Christine O'Donnell: China has "Plan to Take Over America"

Delaware GOP Senate Candidate Christine O'Donnell said during a 2006 debate that China had a "carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America," the Associated Press reports.

She added that she had classified information to support her claim.

When one of O'Donnell's Republican opponents suggested during the primary debate that the U.S. and China should be allies because of their economic interdependency, according to the AP, O'Donnell replied "that doesn't work."

She continued: "There's much I want to say. I wish I wasn't privy to some of the classified information that I am privy to."

Challenged on the notion that she had classified information, O'Donnell reportedly said she had gotten it through nonprofit groups she had worked with that sent missionaries to China.

"A country that forces women to have abortions and mandates that you can only have one child and will not allow you the freedom to read the Bible, you think they can be our friend?" O'Donnell added during the debate. "We have to look at our history and realize that if they pretend to be our friend it's because they've got something up their sleeve."

Representatives for O'Donnell did not immediately respond to a CBS News request for comment.

O'Donnell, a Tea Party-backed candidate who upset a moderate Republican Rep. Mike Castle in the primary, has made news for a series of controversial comments, including that she once "dabbled in witchcraft." Polls show her trailing Democrat Chris Coons in the general election race.

Smell that? That is some good baseless fear mongering. No, China and the U.S. aren't economically interdependent. Those slick Chinese have something up their sleeve. I know of a non-profit group that has classified information that proves China is planning to take over America, but I can't tell you what it is because the non-profit group is really strict about their conspiracy classified information. Besides, if I told you what the classified information was, you would probably call me out on my BS.

Why does China have to take over America? They already produce practically everything America depends on; the rich sold us out to China long ago. The rich created a capitalism that no longer supports the society it depends on to sustain it. Obviously, that capitalism they have created is disintegrating because its society is being destroyed. We can't continue to let other countries produce all our most vital resources, and leave our own people without any jobs because the rich must make triple digit profits. The economy was created to sustain society; instead it has abandoned that society; it has left it to flounder while the rich think they can only care about themselves. Our government was created to keep this very thing from happening instead our politicians on both sides of the aisle have been bought out by the rich. Where is our democracy? We are a plutocracy, and an inane one at that.

We are not all a plutocracy, and an inane one at that. In one scenario I saw China invading America by its virtue of having so much money here. Its government would not care for the poor and would not like our government if our people bad mouthed China a lot like Christine O'Donnell is starting off to do now. This is a dangerous woman who has a mind that is not helping with things in America. It is negative to think that China is nothing but a good country now that is supported by its people does good things. Old thinking coming back again to plaque Americans and Chinese will not help the diplomatic relationship with China and other countries in the future, which could in fact permanently shipwreck America and change it forever. What we need to do is think more positively using ideas that can help everyone, not just the wealthy and blend in with other countries working together toward and greater and longer lasting peace.
